Tom Hanks has recently been nominated for two awards... And let's just say they're not anything to gloat about.
Ever since he started his career all the way back in 1977, Hanks has been unstoppable in the industry. From big blockbuster movies, all the way to small-town productions, the 66-year-old veteran has proved time and time again that he is, in fact, a great actor.
And if you don't believe me, he has a massive list of accolades to prove it - including seven Emmys, four Golden Globes, two Oscars, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, as well as a whole range of nominations for his work.
However, things have taken a slight turn as Hanks has recently been nominated for two awards he might want to keep on the down-low...
Per Variety, the Forrest Gump star has been nominated for two Razzie Awards; one for Worst Actor and the other for Worst Supporting Actor. Ouch.
The former award is credited to his performance as Geppetto in Disney’s Pinocchio while the latter is for his role as Colonel Tom Parker in the critically-acclaimed biopic Elvis, starring Austin Butler.
The Razzie Awards are known for their parody stance on typical award shows, recognizing stars for less-than-impressive performances over the past year.
And it seems as though Hanks has some tough competition to claim either or both of the awards.
Other famous faces that have been nominated in the Worst Actor category are Machine Gun Kelly for his performance in Good Mourning, Pete Davidson for his voice-over role in Marmaduke, Jared Leto for his role in Morbius, and Sylvester Stallone in Samaritan.
Just to make matters worse, Hanks was also nominated for Worst Screen Couple.
While things seem pretty bad for the actor, he should count himself lucky.
At least he wasn't in Netflix's Marilyn Monroe movie Blonde as it received the highest number of nominations at the Razzies, coming in with eight in total.
Following closely behind was Machine Gun Kelly's Good Mourning with seven and Jared Leto's Morbius came in at third with five nominations including Worst Film, Worst Actor and Worst Director.
As per the Huffington Post, the 43rd Razzie Award winners list will be announced March 11, one day before the Academy Awards honors the year’s best films and performances.
