Austin Butler has left some fans scratching their heads after he used his "Elvis voice" during his acceptance speech at the Golden Globe award show last night.

On Tuesday, the 80th installment of the Golden Globes saw some of the biggest stars in entertainment gather together to celebrate all that the industry has had to offer over the past year.

The incredible night saw stars such as Colin Farrell, Cate Blanchett, and Steven Spielberg take home awards for their work while new kids on the golden block, Austin Butler and Zendaya, also picked up their wins for Elvis and Euphoria respectively.

Angela Bassett made history with her win on Tuesday night as her performance as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever bagged the first acting win for a Marvel Studios movie, while Jennifer Coolidge earned a few chuckles during her acceptance speech after being recognized for her supporting role in The White Lotus.

While there were a bunch of stand-out moments that immediately became a hot talking point online, there was one that stood out amongst the rest - and it's pretty hilarious.

Three words: Austin Butler's voice.

Now, this has been a point of debate ever since the 31-year-old actor announced that he would be taking on the role of Elvis Presley for the self-titled 2022 biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann.

At first, we all just assumed he was getting into character - which would make total sense - but years later, the movie is out and thriving but Butler's still holding onto the voice it seems.

After being announced as the winner of the award for best actor in a motion picture (drama), Butler took to the stage to give a speech about how grateful he was for the unique opportunity.

"Oh man, all my words are leaving me. I just am so grateful right now. I’m in this room full of my heroes. Brad [Pitt], I love you. Quentin [Tarantino], I printed out the Pulp Fiction script when I was 12. I cannot believe I’m here right now," the actor began, coincidentally adopting Presley’s signature southern tone.

"The Presley family, thank you guys for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me," he told Presley’s widow, Priscilla Presley, and daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who were in the audience.

"Lisa Marie and Priscilla, I love you forever."

While the accent didn't seem to cause much of an uproar at the Beverly Hilton hotel, it did cause some major reactions online with many taking to Twitter to express their confusion.

"Austin Butler has one more chance to shut the Elvis voice off I swear to god," wrote one user.

"Austin Butler still talking in that god damn Elvis voice...", added another.

A third said: "Have never committed to anything the way Austin Butler has committed to the Elvis voice."

During a press conference after the show, the star of the 2022 biopic addressed the issue stating: "I had three years where that was my only focus, so I'm sure there's pieces of him in my DNA and I’ll always be linked."

I mean, we're taking method acting a little far here, don't you think?

And this isn't the first time the 31-year-old has addressed the rumors about his voice.

Butler joked about the transformation during an appearance on Saturday Night Live last year saying: "There's people out there who say that ever since I played Elvis, my voice has changed.

"That it got deeper, more Elvis-y. But that’s not true. I’ve always sounded like this, and I can prove it."

A clip from a decade ago was then shown with some not-so-subtle editing on his voice.

Butler beat competition from Brendan Fraser (The Whale), Hugh Jackman (The Son), Bill Nighy (Living), and Jeremy Pope,(The Inspection) for the coveted award.
