Tom Hardy has made a cancer patient's dying wish of speaking to him come true, by video calling her in her hospice.
Jo-Anne Shaw, 58, has cancer and is receiving end-of-life care at Myton Hospice in Warwick, UK, and the staff took to social media to help make her final wish come true, per BBC.
The Facebook post by Myton Hospices received thousands of shares after it showed Jo-Anne holding a sign next to a cardboard cutout of the Mad Max actor.
The post read: "This is Jo-Anne Shaw, she is 58 years old. A mother of two and grandmother of three who is dying of cancer at our Warwick Myton Hospice.
"As you’ll see Jo-Anne is a Tom Hardy super fan and has decorated our Inpatient Unit with a life-size cut out of Tom… much to everyone’s delight! After a chat with Jo-Anne, it was revealed that she would love to fulfill her final wish and meet Tom."
The post was also shared on Instagram, which is where Tom, 45, saw it and responded: "[It would] be my pleasure".
True to his word, the star video called Jo-Anne on Friday (December 9) to have a conversation that she described as "like talking to a friend".
The BBC caught up with Jo-Anne after her call with the Peaky Blinders star where she was naturally incredibly excited by the event.
She said: "I'm such a big fan of his, I've watched all his movies and boxsets, especially during the lockdown. I love him to bits. I haven't been very well for a while now, but he put me on a pedestal for a day and that's all I can ask for."
A spokesperson for the hospice posted on Facebook: "We are thrilled to say that Jo-Anne not only spoke to Tom this morning on the phone but has just had a Facetime with Tom too!
"We will be releasing more information in the upcoming days but for now, thank you all so much! You truly are amazing! We've been blown away by Tom's kindness and support too."
Tom Hardy is currently in production for the latest installment of the Mad Max series, Mad Max: The Wasteland.
