Tom Holland recently admitted that he "didn't realize" he had to pay his water bill.

Sitting down with Jay Shetty on his 'On Purpose' podcast, the Cherry actor opened up about needing to do some "growing up" when it comes to adjusting to the world of being a real adult.

"I needed to do a lot of growing up at home—paying my water bill, paying my council tax, and sorting out my bins and all that sort of stuff that they don’t teach you at school," he said.

He continued, emphasizing that this needs to be a "lesson."

"I think there should be a lesson at school that’s called 'Life' which is like laundry, basic cooking. Like, I didn’t realize you have to pay for your water. I just thought that was a luxury of living in London, that the water comes out the sky and then it comes out your tap. I was so behind on my water bill that I didn’t realize [it].

"I’m up to date now. Don’t worry," he added.

Elsewhere in the interview, he also talked about the impact sobriety has had on his life after feeling like it had a hold on him.

"I didn’t one day wake up and say, 'I’m giving up drinking.' I just, like many Brits, had had a very, very boozy December. [It was] Christmas time, I was on vacation, I was drinking a lot, and I’ve always been able to drink a lot," he told Shetty.

"I think I get my genes from my mom’s side in that thing — I can drink," he continued. "And I decided to just give [it] up for January."

But the month proved to be extremely challenging for the star, so he continued to stay disciplined.

"It just really scared me," he said. "I just was like, 'Wow, maybe. Maybe I have a little bit of an alcohol thing.' So I sort of decided to punish myself and say, 'I’ll do February as well. I’ll do two months off. If I can do two months off, then I can prove to myself that I don’t have a problem.'"

But more than it just being a mental struggle, Holland also found himself struggling to cope in social situations.

"Two months go by and I was still really struggling. I felt like I couldn’t be social," he recalled. "I felt like I couldn’t go to the pub and have a lime soda. I couldn’t go out for dinner. I was really, really struggling and I started to really worry that maybe I had an alcohol problem."

Thankfully though, he made it to his goal, which was June of that year, and realized that he didn't need to have alcohol to live his life to the fullest.

"I was the happiest I've ever been in my life," he said. "I could sleep better. I could handle problems better," he remembered. "Things that would go wrong on set, that would normally set me off, I could take in my stride. I had such better mental clarity. I felt healthier, I felt fitter."

Holland is best known for his portrayal of Spider-Man in the Marvel franchise.

On playing the iconic character in the future, the actor said that he didn't know what the future looked like.

"I don’t know what the future of Spider-Man looks like," he told GQ in 2021. "I don’t know whether I’m going to be a part of it. Spider-Man will always live on in me, and I know that Amy [Pascal] and the studio are keen to figure out what the next chapter of Spider-Man looks like.

"If that happens to be with me, then that’s very exciting," he added. But, you know, if it’s time for me to walk away, then I’ll do so proudly."
