Wendy Williams has released a statement addressing recent fan concern over her on-air behavior after fans on social media expressed concern about her health.
A week previously, the talk show host concerned her fans after last week's episode aired, and viewers noticed that Williams was frequently making long pauses and slurring her speech.
A number of Twitter-users took to social media to express their concerns after watching The Wendy Williams Show.
"Before assuming that #wendywilliams is high or drunk, remember that she has Graves’ disease. It can affect you cognitively." One Twitter user wrote.
"[I] am so worried about wendy williams," another fan added.
Speaking to her audience on Monday's episode of The Wendy Williams Show, the eponymous host addressed their concerns, telling them that she is "not perfect."
Williams stated:
Take a look at this news report on Williams' behavior in the video below:"I come here every day and I try to do the best that I can for you. I appreciate you watching, but even after all of these years, it’s still work and effort put in for the hour that I’m out here with you, you know?
"I guess every day is not perfect, but I’m not a perfectionist. I’m not perfect. I love entertaining you, you know? And it’s not easy. It’s not easy. You’re a tough crowd."
Back in May, the 55-year-old media personality was forced to take a hiatus from presenting her show, due to her ongoing battle with Graves' disease.
In a statement posted to her 1.5 million Twitter followers, a spokesperson for the production team wrote: "Recently, Wendy has been dealing with symptoms from her Graves’ disease which is causing fatigue."
The spokesperson added: "In consultation with her doctor and as a precautionary measure, she will be taking some time off as she continues to receive treatment."
