Willow Smith has opened up about how she and her brother Jaden felt "shunned" by members of their family and the African-American community for being "too different".
She made the revelations in the latest episode of Red Table Talk, where she spoke candidly about what it was like while she was growing up.
Watch the episode of Red Table Talk below:"Specifically with the African American community, I kind of felt like me and Jaden were shunned a little bit, like, 'We're not gonna take pride in them because they're too different,'" the 19-year-old said of herself and her 22-year-old brother Jaden.
"Even some of our family members, I would feel they thought, 'You're too different."

She said that while the criticism was difficult for her to deal with, this was a small price to pay for being able to see her daughter happy.
"If they could have seen [Willow]'s expression of freedom looking at her hair falling to the ground ... me as a mom, looking at that, experiencing that with her, there is nothing that anyone could say to me to tell me that it was wrong. Not one person, because I was there," she said.
"I was looking at her. I saw her face. I knew the journey that she and I took together to get to that point," Pinkett Smith added.
"So it didn't really matter what anybody said."
She also revealed that she experienced mom-shaming after her son Jaden wore a skirt.
"I think as Jaden got older, when he did the Louis Vuitton thing, he’s wearing a skirt and then he isn’t what people consider your typical Black man, what’s that supposed to mean?"
"It’s something we as a community need to learn to let go of. I know people felt like it’s dangerous, you are doing your kids a disservice. I knew that self-confidence is what helped me to survive."
