The Harry Potter series has provided kids and adults alike some of the best escapism that the worlds of literature and film have to offer, and during the ongoing pandemic, fun escapes are more important than ever.

Well, now you can play a Hogwarts-themed online escape room absolutely free.

This comes as a number of other places like aquariums and amusement parks that have moved their services online to provide people with some much-needed entertainment during this difficult time.

Perhaps these grandparents will inspire you to build a Harry Potter-themed fortress:

The Peters Township Public Library in McMurray, Pennsylvania, has followed the lead of these establishments and has taken its services online to allow people to enjoy the wonders of literature from home.

While most escape rooms typically have a physical setting, that's not the case for the Harry Potter-themed version from the Peters Township Public Library, which can be completed virtually.

You can complete the game, which was created by Youth Services Librarian Sydney Krawiec, as a group or an individual.

The website says: "You can compete against friends and try it multiple times. Just make sure you have fun!"

According to the library, if you're accessing the game through a social media app, it's a good idea to open it on a separate web browser so that you don't lose your progress when opening necessary links.

In the game, you begin your journey as a first-year student at Hogwarts, and you are roped into a "fun team building activity" that muggles enjoy.

The game begins: "The house prefect announces that you have a fun team building activity to complete before you get too settled into your new digs.

The house prefect tells you about a new muggle trend where they lock themselves in rooms and have to answer puzzles to get out - no magic at all!

If this sounds like the perfect quarantine pass time, you can play the virtual Harry Potter escape room here.

This is far from the only activity Peters Township Public Library is offering during the pandemic. On its Facebook page, it's announced other offerings including virtual poetry readings and a Star Wars trivia night.

Meanwhile, on the subject of Hary Potter-themed escapism, JK Rowling has launched a new Potter platform 'Harry Potter at Home' to help with the coronavirus lockdown.
