Zac Efron has revealed that he "almost died" in the brutal accident that caused him to get surgery on his jaw.
Last year, the 34-year-old High School Musical star appeared in a promotional video for Earth Day, which quickly went viral as many pointed out that his jawline looked different from usual.
Many social media users speculated whether the actor had undergone cosmetic surgery, as his jaw looked far more prominent than just months prior.
Now, while promoting his new film, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, the actor has continued to address the plastic surgery allegations, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Efron said that his mother told him about the rumors and stated that he doesn't "read the internet" so he's not bothered about what's being said about him.
Also, in his Men's Health interview, the star echoed the same statement, saying: "If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do,’ he told the magazine, ‘I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this work."
Reflecting on the painful incident now - which was when he smashed his chin into a granite fountain - the Greatest Showman actor told ET that while he "almost died" in the situation, he now finds it "funny".
Earlier this week, Efron walked his first red carpet after three years at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote his new movie.
The Disney channel star donned a grey checked suit and black shirt for his latest premiere and smiled brightly for the camera. He looked happy to greet fans and celebrate his upcoming movie which also stars Russell Crowe and Bill Murray.
The forthcoming movie follows the main character John - a US Marine Corps veteran turned merchant - who is assigned to sneak into Vietnam during the war.
In the movie, John's childhood buddies ask him to deliver messages from home, as well as bring beer to their friends who are still alive and fighting in the war.
The Greatest Beer Run Ever is scheduled to be released on AppleTV in September.
