Miss Alabama Zoe Sozo Bethel's cause of death has been revealed.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, the pageant queen and commentator's family confirmed that she had passed away on Friday, February 10 after sustaining severe injures in an accident eight days earlier.
Now, the Miami Police Department has revealed to Insider that Bethel was injured when she fell from a three-story window.
Police told the outlet that they found Bethel when they responded to a "possible suicide attempt" on February 11 at 12 AM. The 27-year-old media figure was identified and rushed to the Jackson Memorial Hospital "in critical condition."
The Independent reports that Bethel had sustained severe brain damage in the accident. One week after being admitted to the hospital, she passed away, with her cause of death listed as "blunt force trauma" by police.
Meanwhile, the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner ruled that her death was "accidental", and the police statement described it as "a tragic accident" in which "no foul play is suspected."
Bethel's family confirmed her death publically several days after she had passed, in an Instagram post that included several photos of the young woman.
"On Friday, 18 February, 2022, at approximately 5.30 AM Eastern time in Miami, Florida, our beloved Zoe Sozo Bethel passed from this life into the next as a result of succumbing to her injuries," they wrote.
The family went on to list Bethel's many achievements, saying: "Zoe touched the hearts of many people and was actively affiliated with several organizations and groups namely, she was the current Miss Alabama (for America Strong), a political commentator for RSBN, a Brand Ambassador for Turning Point USA, and Liberty University’s Falkirk Center. She was also a spokeswoman for Students for Life and affiliated with Project Veritas."
"At this time of bereavement, effectual and fervent prayers are solicited for the family members, and the family asks that their privacy wishes be honored and respected," they added.
The family also included a link to a GoFundMe where fans could contribute to Bethel's funeral and medical costs. The fundraiser has already raised over $40,000 of its $500,000 goal.
