Miss Alabama Zoe Bethel has passed away.

The beloved beauty queen suffered severe injuries from an undisclosed accident eight days ago. Family members announced on Sunday that she had died from her injuries in a message shared to her Instagram.

"On Friday, February 18, 2022, at approximately 5:30 AM Eastern time in Miami, Florida, our beloved Zoe Sozo Bethel passed from this life into the next as a result of succumbing to her injuries," they wrote.

They went on to say that Bethel - who was crowned Miss Alabama for Miss America Strong 2021 - "touched the hearts of many people."

They then asked for fans' prayers, and for them to respect their privacy, writing: "At this time of bereavement, effectual and fervent prayers are solicited for the family members, and the family asks that their privacy wishes be honored and respected."

Meanwhile, for those who want to show "additional support", the family included a link to a GoFundMe page where they could make donations to help cover Bethel's medical and burial costs. The fundraiser has already raised over $40,000 of its $500,000 goal.

Tributes have already begun to pour in for the pageant queen. Editor-in-chief of RSBN Grace Saldana honored Bethel in a tweet, in which she shared a series of photos of the political commentator.

"In loving memory of Zoe," she wrote. "Besides the fact that she was always incredibly stunning, I'll always remember how convicted Zoe was in her faith in God, how dedicated she was to her beliefs in protecting life, and how much she cared for others. May she rest in peace."

Conservative convention Turning Point USA joined Saldana in honoring Bethel, sharing a poignant video on Twitter.

"We are honored to have known Zoe Bethel. She has been a pillar in the Conservative movement, always moving with grace and wisdom. She has inspired many, and her legacy will continue to touch the hearts of people everywhere. You will not be forgotten, Zoe. May she Rest In Peace," they wrote.
