If you ever feel empty after eating a normal-sized pastry, infamously seductive British supermarket Marks and Spencer may have created the ultimate chocolaty remedy. New for Christmas 2019, the retailer are releasing a whopping foot-long chocolate eclair, complete with sumptuous whipped cream and a rich chocolate fondant. For anyone who has been bemoaning the size of ordinary petit fours, it looks like the choux is finally on the other foot.

The dessert, which is described as M&S’ “Biggest Ever Eclair”, is not on sale until September 30th. However, despite the minor delay and hefty price tag of £10, the internet is already over excited about the prospect of the monstrous pastry arriving in stores. One Twitter user wrote, “M&S u have outdone urself here [sic.],” while another exclaimed, “‘All I want for Christmas is choux’.” Even terrible puns seem to be a price worth paying.

Despite the stir caused by the enormous dessert, the eclair is not the only new M&S item worth getting excited about this year. The Liverpool Echo report that the retailer are preparing to release a wide range of epic sweet treats, including Sticky Toffee Trifle, Trifle Flavour Cream, Sticky Toffee Christmas Pudding, Woodland Yule Log, Cherry and Chocolate Ice Cream Gateau and Baked Alaska.

It’s not just dessert that’s getting the notoriously pornographic M&S treatment. Savoury snacks and dishes are also on offer, including Brie En Croute, Vegan Pigs in Blankets, Mini Meatball Subs, Mushroom Bao Buns, Ham Hock Rarebit Mini Crumpets, Prawn Sliders and Christmas Gin Scottish Smoked Salmon. Christmas may be many months away, but there’s no reason why you can’t stock up on some seriously tasty stuff in the meantime.
