Whenever someone I know gets a new tattoo I tell them I think it's brilliant, regardless of my true feelings.

Perhaps this is because tattoos are a rather permanent fixture on the body -unless you want to undergo expensive and painful removal surgery (which may or may not be effective) - then you're basically stuck with your ink for life once you take the plunge.

This throwback video shows Post Malone without his face tattoos:

However, there are some alternatives out there for those of us who like the idea of a tattoo but not necessarily the pain and commitment that actually getting one would entail.

You could try out a henna design for an authentic but less long-lasting alternative to a fully blown tattoo (though beware potential allergy risks), or you could give this DIY temporary tattoo printer that lets you test out designs before fully committing to them.

Check out this introduction video for the Prinker:

The device looks super simple to use, and pairs with the Prinker app, which gives you access to a wide range of designs to try out. You can also upload your own design or sketch something of your own if you're looking for a more personal temporary tattoo.

The product's description reads:

"Do you wanna get inked but you're afraid of needles, or that you might regret it? Prinker S lets you get creative and design your own blackwork tattoos. This little printer pairs with the Prinker App and provides you with a vast option of over 5,000 unique designs. Old school, cartoon characters, geometric shapes, and even your own design, if you want a tattoo to truly pop, Prinker is the way to go. It's very easy to use — pair, find or upload your design, and rub Prinker on your skin. Your tattoo is good to go after 3 seconds! Prinker S uses FDA-compliant cosmetic inc that's waterproof, lasts up to 3 days, and is soap washable."

At $259.99 the device doesn't come cheap, but then getting an actual tattoo is a pretty expensive business as well. If you're interested in learning more or want to buy a Prinker, you can do so here.
