Gender reveals have become rather popular among expecting families, even though I think 98% of people who have ever attended a gender reveal are only there for the free food.

Regardless, there are many ways expecting parents choose to reveal the gender of their unborn child to their friends and family.

From popping balloons full of confetti to letting off smoke bombs, people can go to great lengths to let you know whether their unborn baby is a boy or girl.

This family tried to involve a plane in their gender reveal... which did not end well:

However, the most traditional, simple, and delicious way of revealing an unborn child's gender is with a cake cut.

The premise is simple: A beautifully designed and neutral-colored cake is cut, and the sponge on the inside is either pink for a girl or blue for a boy.

However, one TikTokker was left thoroughly disappointed when the cake she received from a bakery was a far cry from what she had ordered. In fact, I'd go as far as to call it an abomination.

The woman, who goes by the username crazypiggies on the social media platform, shared a video of what she had ordered and the disaster that she actually got.

In this clip, she shows two photos - the first is the beautiful bumblebee-themed gender reveal cake she ordered, which has the words "What will it bee" written in icing, cute bee and beehive fondant decorations, with an inside that would be colored to reveal the baby's gender.

However, as you can see from the video above, the mom-to-be got something very different.

Instead, her cake arrived topped with real flowers and a strange, creepy baby on top. But arguably worst of all, the baker covered the entire cake in a garish blue icing - prematurely revealing to everybody that the baby was going to be a boy.

Crazypiggies captioned the video: "Worse, it happened with my gender reveal cake WITH THE COLOR OF THE GENDER ON THE OUTSIDE SMH".

The clip, which sees her laughing throughout, has also amassed 4.1 million views and over 1800 comments from baffled TikTokkers.

One person wrote: "I was about to say what’s wrong with that cake it’s adorable then nope."

And a second joked: "The fact that they put the blue as the icing was bad... but the handwriting was even worse."

A third person, who claimed to be a cake decorator, also commented: "As a cake decorator I don’t know how they weren’t thinking when they made this. I’m so sorry!"

Another commenter even branded the cake "upsetting".

Replying to several commenters, Crazypiggies revealed that she paid $70 for the cake - and never received a refund after complaining.

Fortunately, Crazypiggies eventually got a cake she could be proud of at her baby shower, captioning the post: "My baby shower cake made up for it! So grateful for my baby boy and it’ll always be such a funny story to tell."

And a congratulations to Crazypiggies who has since given birth to a beautiful boy called Noah.

Ever since they first became popular, it's safe to say we've seen some weird gender reveals.

But one couple seems to have taken the biscuit with their not-so-traditional approach to finding out whether they'd be having a boy or a girl.

In a display that has left many people straight up confused, mom-to-be Maria Popa opted to have two pole dancers perform an elaborate routine in front of guests at her gender reveal party.

Rather than simply cutting into a cake or popping a balloon to reveal blue or pink, Maria had her two dancers dressed in blue and pink underwear as they twisted around the pole in her back garden.

A video of the bizarre gender reveal has already racked up over 6.8 million views on TikTok,

However, many people were left puzzled by the spectacle, which didn't seem to explicitly reveal the baby's gender.

"What was it I was confused," one person commented, while another wrote: "I’m a little confused."

For others, the performance clearly took things a step too far, with one commenting sarcastically: "Well …. That’s a first …"

But in a follow-up video, Maria shared a longer video of the routine that revealed how - at the end - one of the dancers popped a balloon, which exploded with blue confetti. The clip confirmed that Maria and her partner are in fact expecting a baby boy.

With the gender truly revealed, many viewers took to the comments section to praise the imaginative display. Some pointed out that it made perfect sense for the couple, considering that Maria herself is a pole dancer.

"You’re a dancer and it’s super creative and unique," one person wrote, while another gushed: "The best gender reveal I’ve seen in a long time, that was awesome! Congratulations."

Others commended the couple for hosting a gender reveal that didn't set fire to anything or release balloons into the air as many have been known to.

"They ain’t polluting the air releasing balloons or causing fires this is cool af! Congrats," one person commented, while another added: "They didn’t set anything on fire so this is a good reveal."

Gender reveals... they're certainly not for everybody.

Over the last decade, the popularity of gender reveals has skyrocketed - to the point where they now have become a social media staple.

However, although having a child is supposed to be one of the most fulfilling and happiest experiences of a person's life, sometimes a gender reveal can act as a kind of "spoiler" for the eventual birth. And, whether some parents want to admit it or not, a gender reveal can often end in disappointment.

For example, take this dad's reaction to finding out his partner was pregnant with daughter number three.

Shared to TikTok by user @kc.fulton, the couple's gender reveal has amassed more than 43.5 million views after going viral on the social media platform.

The video shows the family of four gathering underneath an umbrella. As the mom-to-be opens the umbrella, pink confetti showers the family - signifying that the little one on the way is a girl. However, rather than rejoice, the dad walks away and can be heard shouting and cursing.

Now, despite the mom captioning the post, "I swear he’s happy", some social media users took umbrage with the dad's reaction.

After comments were eventually disabled on the video, that didn't stop people from leaving comments on @kc.fulton's other posts, with one TikToker writing: "if he wasn’t prepared to have another daughter then why bother trying in the first place".

A second added: "He should be ashamed of himself for that reaction. Grown man throwing a tantrum like that. Why you would post that video to begin with is beyond me."

"Sure he can be a little disappointed if he’s wants a boy like a little mini me, but the way he acted wasn’t right, if she sees that she’s gonna be sad," wrote a third.

But there were others who disagreed and voiced their support for the dad.

"Why is it wrong for someone to want a son after having two girls," one person asked.

Another parent added: "i don't get why people are so upset. when I found out my 3rd was another boy that was my reaction [sic]".

And another supporter commented: "He's allowed to express his feelings people are very judgemental & sensitive [nowadays]. I'm sure he'll love them unconditionally"

Following the reaction of her first video, mom @kc.fulton shared another post showing the doting dad with his other two daughters.

She captioned the second video: "He loves ALL of his girls and they love him [...] He has loved his babies since the second he found out we were having them! He IS a good dad"

A mom-to-be was enraged after her gender reveal party was sabotaged by her own mother.

Back in 2021, TikTok user Ashlee - who goes by the handle @dinkymisspretty - had invited her family and friends to find out whether her unborn baby would be a girl or a boy.

In the short video, the mother - who already had a son - is seen overcome with emotion when she popped a balloon and pink confetti exploded out.

She started jumping up and down with excitement upon seeing the pink color and thought that she was having a baby girl, only to be left disappointed after her son came over to tell her what her mom had done.

Viewers can see on closer inspection that the confetti that came out of the balloon was not just pink, but actually blue - signaling that she will in fact have a boy.

Ashlee wrote in the overlay text: "Clearly you can see I wanted a girl so bad and in that moment I felt like I hit the lottery," and then added: "Then here comes my son making me realize its really another boy. I was p***ed."

After sharing the video on the platform, it amassed 726K views and 108.9K likes, with many people agreeing that Ashlee had every right to be upset at what transpired.

One user wrote: "That’s unfair they knew she wanted a girl… why play like that?"

Many other people even shared their own gender reveal disasters, with one woman revealing that her partner threw himself a gender reveal party - without inviting or informing her.

Since posting the video, Ashlee shared a clip of her maternity shoot on the video-sharing app. She posted a quick snapshot of her newborn and seemingly confirmed to have had a girl after all after writing the caption: "BabyGirl we prayed for you."

A soon-to-be dad shocked the internet after his reaction to a gender reveal recently went viral.

Now, gender reveals are typically supposed to be happy occasions, but recently we've been seeing a few debatable reactions when couples have found out what their baby is going to be.

One man has left everyone perplexed after his outburst consisted of unnecessary anger, as well as affection - a strange combination to say the least.

The clip that was shared to TikTok by user @mathilde7620 shows a couple standing under a black balloon, ready to pop it and see what gender their baby is going to be.

As soon as blue confetti drops and the crowd of onlookers start cheering, the man bursts with sudden rage and starts slamming his fists on the nearest table.

He then moves towards another one and does the same thing.

Things only get worse as his dramatic reaction continues.

Decorations are ripped apart as the cheering slowly dies down.

One can only imagine how his pregnant partner was feeling during the entire fiasco, watching on and coming to the realization that this man is the father of her unborn child.

At the end of the video, he finally regains his composure and comes over to hug and kiss her, but by then, what should have been a joyous moment has been completely ruined.

The video has since gone viral on the video-sharing platform, with it being viewed over 18 million times and let's just say, social media users weren't too happy with the outburst.

"Oh wow," commented one user, while another said: "Divorce babes, divorce."

A third wished the woman "Good luck."

"Oh... he’s happy…? That was suuuuper clear and not terrifying at all," someone else wrote.

This user even described the moment as "scary," saying: "You can tell she felt embarrassed and maybe even afraid, but tried to play it off. That’s so scary."

"If he is acting like that because he is happy, how does he act when he is mad??" Pointed out another person.

Agreeing with the latter remark, someone else said: "Imagine when they get into an argument."
