An extremely sunburnt man has stolen the spotlight from a school of huge stingrays.

Looking more like a lobster than a human, the man was spotted in stingray footage posted to social media by ABC News, and it wasn't long before it went viral, with viewers quick to compare him to the demonic hero of a certain superhero franchise...

The man was spotted in an otherwise stunning clip of majestic eagle rays swimming past groups of unaware swimmers at a Florida beach.

After the shocking footage was posted to Twitter by ABC News over the weekend, people were quick to make comparisons between the extremely sunburnt man and Hellboy.

While some people on Twitter did suggest that the man could have been photoshopped to look even more sunburnt than he actually was, in the footage, swimmers with normal colored skin can also be seen, suggesting that he really was that sunburnt.

Twitter user Emmy Hartman tweeted: "SOMEONE GET THAT MAN SOME ALOE."

Per the Mirror, the eagle rays are not known to pose a danger to humans, and they are described as "shy" animals by experts.

The rays can be up to 5m long and have wingspans as large as 7m.

NFL writer Warren Sharp tweeted: "Drone footage of Hellboy and you wanna talk about huge stingrays?"
