A family has spoken out after a video emerged on social media of a man dancing with his children's 23-year-old nanny.
According to Insider, the controversy was first sparked when a woman named Rachel uploaded a video to TikTok showing her husband Andrew dancing with their childcare, 23-year-old Lizzie Norton.
The pair can be seen re-enacting a scene from the movie Dirty Dancing, which involved Andrew lifting up Lizzie.
Take a look at the original video the sparked the controversy here:The clip shows the pair laughing together and they repeatedly try and fail to recreate the iconic movie moment. At one point in the video, mom Rachel can also be heard saying to Andrew: "You just thumbed her boobs."
When Rachel uploaded the footage to social media, the hands-on clip quickly accrued a lot of attention from other users on the platform, garnering over 8.2 million views, 802,000 reactions, and a further 18,000 comments as of the time of writing.
However, many commenters clearly seemed to take umbrage with the relationship between Andrew and Lizzie - with many stating that they thought their behavior was inappropriate, or voicing their suspicions that the two were having an affair.
For example, one TikTok user wrote: "I think you should get a new husband and a new nanny."
Then this user added: "I showed this to my husband and he said [...] they're definitely sleeping together."
Another person then penned: "The nanny is so aggressive and handsy he's just going along with it?? IDK if the wife is naive and thinks she's just fun or if she's enjoying this."
Finally, this user said: "Only way someone encourages anyone to act like this with their husband is if they're desperately trying to prove to [themselves] that nothing is going on."
Other childminders also shared their thoughts on the footage.
For instance, one wrote: "I was a nanny for a long time and I never once even touched the dad??? They are way too comfortable with each other ma'am."
Another stated: "I was a nanny for 6 years for the same family and I NEVER EVER did 5% on what's happening in this video [...] so unprofessional."
As a result of this fallout, Insider reports that Rachel has since responded to the allegations of impropriety in a subsequent follow-up video.
Rachel stated: "On the rare occasion, she does see him. They're so happy to see each other because she's like our little sister."
She continued: "We love her to death. She's really, like, goofy and weird, and we can joke around and mess with her, and vice versa.
"When she dates and makes bad decisions on other things, we give her advice. We tell her we're disappointed in her. We tell her we're proud of her."
Rachel also took to the comments section to dismiss many of the comments questioning the relationship between Andrew and Lizzie.
"We're flattered by the interest guys. Most of you are out of your minds but we're flattered," she wrote.
