Modern Family star Ariel Winter has been forced to contend with unsolicited comments on her appearance for years. Unfortunately, it seems that our supposedly forward-thinking society still has some way to go when it comes to telling women what they should and shouldn't do with their bodies.
But if you are interested in all things diet and fitness, Ariel Winter has decided to candidly share the details of her personal diet plan, letting us know exactly what she's eating.
In a recent interview with E! News on Thursday, Winter opened up about her diet and fitness habits and stated that thanks to the diet and exercise plan that she and her personal trainer have devised, she can still treat herself to her favourite snacks and drinks from time to time.
Ariel stated: "I think working out is really important for your physical health. I think mental health is really important, but also, if you want to be healthy and while I am not the most excited to put my workout clothes on and go and do that, it is really nice, when you leave, you feel better...I just want to build muscle. My body changes all of the time and I think right now, it's just, I want to build muscle."
Watch Ariel Winter talk about her family in the interview below:She continued: "I also love to eat like, pasta and cheese and candy and all this stuff, so for me, I think it's important for my actual health to go in and make sure that I'm exercising," she continued. "So I think right now it's probably just, health is my main motivation for going in and working out."
She added: "I believe, you know, you eat everything that you want in moderation ... Anything you can in moderation I think it's best, that way you're not like, really wanting something you can't have and like, you absolutely tell yourself you can't have it when, you know, you probably could, just in moderation ... If I can't have something, if I'm told I can't have it, I want it."
Of course, a malicious and vocal minority has criticised her weight loss, and have made a number of body-shaming comments on her social media accounts.
Taking to Instagram, Ariel responded by writing: "I appreciate you wanting to help girls love themselves the way they are, but you are also kind of cutting someone (me) down which isn’t what I think you were trying to do? I also didn’t get plastic surgery. That is also not supportive of women if you’re just assuming about the way they look."
Watch Ariel discuss her time on the hit sitcom Modern Family:Ariel has also responded to another fan's questions about her weight loss, revealing that it was important to her mental health after she was forced to emancipate herself from an abusive parent.
