Someone created a chair for people who love sitting cross-legged at their desk

As somebody who spends 90% of their time sitting at a desk, I can confirm that I am uncomfortable.

The combination of poor lumbar support, intolerable armrests, and having absolutely no idea what to do with my legs when they inevitably go numb, sitting at a desk is the bane of many office workers out there.

The truth is, like many of you reading this, I prefer to be sat cross-legged, but office chairs just don't allow for that level of comfort... until now.

Created by an American company called Health by Design, they have invented a chair that not only makes sitting cross-legged possible but more enjoyable.

Check out the Soul Seat in the video below:

The Soul Seat features a top perch that can be adjusted to different heights, and just below that, there is a lower platform where you can rest your folded legs. This means you can say goodbye to calf cramps and knee pain, because the unique design means your blood flow will not become restricted.

Health by Design explained that it improves posture since due to the fact that the chair "tilts the pelvis forward, opens the hips, and lets the spine align to a comfortable, neutral position".

The Soul Seat also has detachable legs, which not only make it easy to transport, but also mean you can sit comfortably on the floor.

Created by Pack Matthews after trying out yoga for some time, he grew tired of your standard "ergonomic chairs" and was determined to create a seat that relieved him of any pain. According to the company's official website:

"Designer and founder, Pack Matthews, was frustrated with how conventional ergonomic chairs left him in pain and offered no options for changing position while working at the computer.

"Collaborating with friends, a physical therapist, yoga instructors, fine woodworkers, and industrial engineers, Pack developed Health by Design’s first product, the Soul Seat."

Now, Matthews has said the Soul Seat has eventually helped him perform yoga poses that he had never tried before.

Sitting cross-legged is also common practice in Asia, and the Soul Seat led to Malaysian artist AzyanDraws tweeting a photo of the seat, along with the caption: "For those who love to sit cross-legged, I have found the perfect chair for you."

His tweet has since received more than 42,000 retweets.

The chair was also created without back support on purpose, as the design helps "support our healthy body’s daily dance with gravity."

Health by Design has also claimed that customers have reported that the regular use of the Soul Seat increased their focus and energy levels - in turn improving their productivity. Soul Seat users have also seen an increase in their flexibility, alleviated lower back pain and muscle stiffness, and strengthened their core muscles.

Seriously, these should be compulsory in every office!

If you'd like you very own Soul Seat, check out their website. The regular Soul Seat is $875, the floor model variety costs $575, and the Bamboo Soul Seat is $1,200 - but despite the price, I think the benefits are priceless.
