Especially as you get older, getting regular exercise becomes increasingly important. Of course, it's nice to stay in shape, but going for a run, hitting the gym or practising yoga a few times a week will help reduce the risk of developing certain diseases and other ailments as you age.

At 52, Halle Berry doesn't need to be told any of this. The actress, whose acting resume includes the role of a Bond girl and Catwoman, is in better shape than ever right now, and it's largely due to her passion for fitness. The Academy Award-winner is total #fitnessgoals, and she's taken it upon herself to become a kind of motivational workout guru by sharing an update on her exercise regime on Instagram every Friday.

Most recently, Halle disclosed the workout she's been sticking to for the past 10 years, and it's something she swears helps "sculpt every muscle". In her latest #FitnessFriday post, she revealed that boxing is one of her go-to workouts to help tone her muscles.

Sharing a series of pics of her and her trainer Peter Lee Thomas in action, Halle wrote:

"Boxing is still considered one of the best full-body workouts. You’ll sculpt every muscle and burn major calories and fat. It dramatically decreases stress levels, develops hand-eye coordination, and builds confidence and discipline. But most importantly... you’ll never stop learning."

She points out that boxing is also a good mental challenge, as well as a physically demanding form of exercise that keeps you agile, on your toes and burning fat while building muscle. Halle says that while she's been doing boxing for a decade, she's really started getting into it more seriously in the past three years, deciding to commit to it shortly before she turned 50.

"I’ve been boxing for the past 10 years and regularly for the past 3 and I love that I always learn a new way to challenge myself and work new muscles," she wrote, before adding: "I challenge you to pick up some boxing gloves and get at it... I promise you’ll have fun, get your heart rate up and sculpt your body at the same time!!"

Halle has said in past #FitnessFriday posts that her attitude towards keeping fit and exercising is one of the most important things.

"We all agree that we don’t always love to work out," she shared in one post. "However, one thing that makes it bearable for me is my ability to laugh and play and have fun while I’m doing it."

Due to the fact that she's been a dedicated gym-goer for decades now, she also knows the importance of mixing things up when it comes to workouts:

"Many of us get stuck in our fitness routines and do the same circuits over and over each week. We do the same exercises for legs, the same for upper body, the same for abs and so on and then we wonder why we don’t see any real change in our body. Well, here is the answer. You have to shock your system and offer your body new exercises that it can respond to."

Well, she clearly knows what she's talking about. Thanks for being such an inspiration, Halle!
