President-elect Joe Biden has announced his plans to overturn Donald Trump's military plan for transgender people.

ABC News reports the existence of a policy campaign document belonging to the Democrats stating that Trump and Mike Pence have "given hate against LGBTQ+ individuals safe harbor and rolled back critical protections."

In addition to the ban, Biden is also planning to create high-level LGBTQ+ positions in the State Department, as well as in the National Security Council and other federal agencies.

The enforcement of the 2019 Equality Act will also be a focus for the Biden administration.

It "prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, public accommodations, public education, federal funding, credit, and the jury system."

While Biden's plan to allow transgender people to once again serve has been met with widespread praise, it has also been criticized by conservatives.

A Christian anti-LGBT+ activist and 'motivational speaker' who is known as "Dr. Chaps" slammed the move in his newsletter.

Dr. Chaps, whose real name is Gordon Klingenschmitt, is a former Navy chaplain who is no stranger to politics, having served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 2015 until 2017.

He has claimed that Biden's proposal to overturn the ban is an attempt to form a "transgender atheist army for the antichrist."

Dr. Chaps referenced Biden's victory speech in his newsletter, including the president's thanking of "gay, straight and transgender" Americans for their support.

Klingenschmitt said that Biden is on a mission to "transgenderise the military and punish Christian troops", writing: "Female solders and students will be forced to share common showers and rooms with cross-dressing men or boys with male anatomy, within hours of Biden's inauguration."

He added: "Christian troops who object to sharing co-ed showers and bunks with opposite gender anatomy will be vilified as 'discriminators' and punished, demoted, discharged or court-martialed."

Biden acknowledged Transgender Day of Remembrance by promising to be a voice for trans rights in the face of violence faced by their community.

"On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor their lives - and recommit to the work that remains to ensure that every transgender and gender-nonconforming person in America has the opportunity to live authentically, earn a living wage, and be treated with dignity and respect in their communities and workplaces," Biden said in a statement.
