One man had the perfect response for his boss when they pulled him up on his performance.

Podcast producer and voice actor Kris B did not mince his words, telling his manager straight that he put in below-average effort to match his below-average salary.

Kris shared a reenactment of the conversation with his 157,400 followers on TikTok, posting a clip recreating the conversation he had with his boss.

In the video - which is captioned "I have 9 weeks left at this job so" - Kris enrolled the help of one of his voice actor friends to play the part of his manager.

"Mainly, I want us to discuss the difference in your performance between last year and 2020," they can be heard saying while Kris prepares to deliver his candid response.

"You were the top-rated employee in 2020, but it doesn't feel like you've been nearly as present or focussed since then. What's changed?" his 'boss' asks.

Kris takes this as the cue he was waiting for to vent all his frustrations about his role.

"2020 was the second year in a row I didn't get a raise, even though I was the top employee," he began. "When I asked why I couldn't get a raise, you said it was because my position - no, my pay was a 'fair market value for my position'."

"And when I asked where my pay falls on the pay grade scale, you said it was 'below the median', so below the average of what I could make in my position. So, at that point, I just decided I'm going to become a fair market value employee and put in a below average amount of effort because that's what I feel like you pay me to do," he continued.

Kris then delivered his mic drop finish: "You've created an environment where there's no incentive for me to work hard. So I don't."

Unsurprisingly, the video has been a huge hit on TikTok, where it has already racked up 11.4 million views.

Meanwhile, many people have taken to the comments section to applaud Kris for his honesty.

"Funny how employers always have an excuse for below avg wages, but accept no excuses for below avg work," one person wrote.

"Again in case she didn’t hear it the first time, NO INCENTIVE TO WORK HARD," another commented.

"We love people knowing their worth...amazing," added a third.

I'm sure we've all wanted to say this to an employer at some time! Well done, Chris!
