A man has hit out at Petsmart after he took his dog there for a haircut and it came back looking, in his words, as if "Edward Scissorhands" had groomed it.

Dogs are cute, right? This is something the vast majority of us can agree on unless, of course, you're a cat person in which case you will probably enjoy what this dog has been turned into.

The one issue that comes with owning a dog is the hair, and sometimes there is a pretty large amount of it.

When the dog turns into a walking rug, it's probably time for it to get a haircut, and as brave as doing this yourself is, it's usually best to let a professional attend to it.

One Twitter user did exactly this after his dog, as adorable as it was, was in need of a trim so he took it to Petsmarts to let the experts do it... or so he thought.

Going by the Twitter handle of Big Burt, the owner shared a side-by-side comparison of his dog, and let's just say they look fairly different from when they arrived at Petsmart...

On the left, we can see an adorable, albeit hairy, animal with a pink bow and a soft loving expression on its face.

Then we look at the image on the right and we are met with a harshly shaven dog with a blue bow, but its eyes have nearly doubled in size and the expression is somewhat more... traumatized at their new look?

Clearly, Burt was not overly impressed with the condition of his beloved pet as he called out the groomers by saying: "count your f***ing days petsmart."

Viewers of the tweet did not hold back with their responses, with one apologizing as they shared a side-by-side image of the dog with Sid the Sloth's granny from Ice Age - and the comparison definitely makes sense.

Another user added that the dog looks like the chicken from Moana, and looking at the image below, it appears like another astute description.

Another user took notes to never take their dog to Petsmart for a haircut, to which Burt responded: "Bruh they’ll Edward Scissorhands the dog."

Another user shared their experiences as they claimed that the same establishment did the same thing to their dog as they shared a side-by-side image.

It goes to show how much a haircut can really change how a dog looks, especially when it's such a drastic difference.

So perhaps the moral of the story is to ensure that the groomers know exactly how you want your dog to look before they go to town and turn a cute-looking pooch into an animated character.
