Sports that utilise physical force as formidable as Mixed Martial Arts aren't often thought of as the most delicate and subtle, but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of skill involved.
Along with the brawn comes a lot of brains to react and adapt intricate techniques for each and every opponent, something that's often hard to spot if you're not an avid fan of the spectacle.
MMA fighter Max Holloway found the perfect way to showcase the precision involved in MMA by demonstrating how accurate he can be with a single kick. Holloway is a Polynesian-American competing in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is currently reigning as champion.
Holloway, who is of Hawaiian, Samoan, and English ancestry, was the youngest fighter on the UFC roster when he made his promotional debut in 2012. Coming onto the MMA scene in 2010, the now 27-year-old athlete even faced off against Conor McGregor back in 2013.
He recently, he took part in the 'bottlecap challenge', in which he managed to spin the cap off a bottle with the tip of his kick - without even moving the bottle.
Check out Holloway's swift moves here:"Be curious my friends! #challengeaccepted #bottlecapchallenge Passing this on to our guy @johnmayer, [sic]" he wrote on the Instagram post where he shared the video. He continued: "Hey John if you can’t complete this challenge @erlsn.acr and I decided you have to come to Hawaii after your tour and kick it with us until you complete it! [sic]"
Then, after Holloway challenged him to do it, John Mayer tried it out.
And somewhat surprisingly, the singer did a pretty good job of it too:Holloway and Mayer aren't the only ones who are taking part in the challenge, which can be found all over Instagram at the moment, from sportsmen to regular people trying it out.
Some less successful than others...
Mayer challenged Jason Statham to pull it off - but we'll have to wait and see whether the Stath rises to the challenge...
