A mom has claimed that her nine-year-old daughter was bullied at school over her "fake" Stanley Cup.
TikToker Dayna Motycka - who goes by the handle @dayna_motycka - took to the social media platform earlier this week to call out parents after her child allegedly became a victim of bullying.
In the video, the mom shared that she brought her daughter an almost $10 Walmart knock-off of the viral Stanley cup for Christmas after the little girl had spotted it and said was "cute".
She said that on the second day of her daughter returning to school after the winter break, she came home "upset," revealing: "All the other girls in her grade - I'm not saying all, maybe she said nine or 10 of them - all got Stanley's for Christmas. And they made sure to let her know that this is not a real Stanley, that this is fake and it's not as cool."
Watch the TikTok below:Motycka's daughter was left so "upset" by the incident that she asked her mom if she could "have a real Stanley," to which the TikToker questioned why a child needs the enormous stainless water bottle.
"Can we afford to buy her a Stanley? Yes. Did I think that she needed one? No," she told her followers. "Apparently I’ve been proven wrong by the children in our school who are making fun of her for not having a real name brand Stanley."
The parent proceeded to hit out at the girls' parents for failing to teach them to treat others with respect for not having in-demand products, stating: "This doesn't start with the kids. This starts with us, with parents, with moms. What are we teaching our kids?
"You'd better believe that, if our nine-year-old daughter came home and, somehow, we found out that she had made fun of another girl at school for not having something name-brand... we would be calling the family, we would be making her write a note to apologize, we would make her apologize in person because that's not what we do in this household," she added.
Motycka revealed that she bought her daughter a real Stanley cup - which costs around $35 - and said adults need to help their kids realize that just because you have enough money to purchase these things, you don't necessarily need them.
"We're trying to teach our kids they don't necessarily need that. Things are earned. You have to work for things in your life. Not everything is just going to be handed to you," she said.
With that being said, the mom added that she also doesn't want to see her daughter "being left out and made fun of because she doesn't have the main brand things".
"We have got to teach our kids to not make other kids feel inferior for not having the things that they have. That's it, that's where it starts and it starts with us as parents," she concluded.
The doting parent's video amassed 3.5 million views, and the comment section was inundated with parents giving Motycka solutions on how her daughter can navigate the situation at school.
One user wrote: "She needs to take it to school and then take the 'not Stanley' next day and be sure to tell them she likes it better because it is so cute!" to which the TikToker responded: "Love this idea!!! Seriously!"
Another chimed in: "Unpopular opinion: have daughter say, 'I don’t care, I thought this one was cute,'" and a third added: "I feel this..but we should also teach our kids to be leaders with more confidence in themselves and their choices. not being crowd followers."
A fourth user shared: "I don't blame u AT ALL. But those kids will just make fun of her for getting one 'TO TRY & fit in' (core memory for me) kids are AWFUL... Im sorry."
