A mom has taken to social media to ask if she's in the wrong for ordering herself takeouts after her children go to bed.

Despite seeming like a completely personal matter, the mom sought feedback after she was branded a "bad mother" by her ex-boyfriend for her secret eating habits.

Taking to Reddit's AITA (Am I The A**hole) forum under the username u/No-Cheek2572, the mom explains: "Occasionally when my 4 children go to bed I'll order myself a little something from Ubereats or Doordash after a hard day so I don't have to share with the kiddos."

(Before we move on, I'd just like to say that this is a genius plan and I'll definitely be utilizing it in the future. Anyway, moving on...)

The mom then says that because she's usually the first one up in the mornings, she can dispose of the packaging with her kids ever knowing that she had an evening treat. However, one morning, she was caught out.

"My children ended up waking up first that morning and seen the takeout food packaging and ended up waking me up asking me what I ate and if they could have some," the mom said. "I told them there was none left and I eat it all last night."

However, despite hoping that her answer would "be the end of it", she says that the situation escalated when she dropped the children off at their father's house for the week.

It would appear that her children told their dad what had happened, with the mom writing: "My children's father ended up spamming my phone with text messages accusing me of misappropriating my [children's] funds he sends every month."

She explained that she receives $400 each month from the father, which is supposed to be used to help with the upbringing of their four children.

"It isn't much but I'm fine with it because he usually makes up with it by buying the children what they need when an issue arises," the mom explains. "I have a job as a daycare worker and use my own money I make myself to buy Ubereats\doordash food."

However, she says that the father then went on to label her "a bad mother" because she'd "rather order food for just myself without thinking of my children".

He claims that she "should've just waited until they were with him for the night."

"I had a really bad day that day and just wanted to do something to cheer myself up and sometimes food does the trick for me," the mom writes. "If I were to order something for everyone it would've cost a while lot of money that I wasn't interested in spending."

In response to the post - which received a whopping 6.2K upvotes - many Redditors rushed to the mom's defense.

"Unless he spends ALL his money on the kids he’s being a hypocrite, and considering how little he pays for his four kids I think it’s safe to say he’s a hypocrite," one person replied. "No way are you the [a******] here. You’re allowed to have food that’s just for you, you should have food that’s just for you!"

A second added: "[Not the a******] it's a treat you get for yourself, and $400 a month for four kids is nothing."

Others also revealed that they do the exact same thing, with one person writing: "I literally shoved an entire Cadbury creme egg in my mouth when my kid walked into the room today so I wouldn't have to share it or explain what I was eating, where I got it, and why no, you can't have some."

"I'm the only woman in the house. I have two tampon boxes in my linen closet: one with tampons and one with snacks," another added.

In my opinion, this mom deserves an award for her ingenuity.
