A mother has shared the cost of a trip for her family of four as they went to Universal Studios, and the final amount is absolutely staggering.

Going to Universal Studios in Orlando as a child is arguably one of the best things that will ever happen, so much so that going as an adult is equally as exciting.

Seeing your favorite film characters up close and personal and also being able to immerse yourself in the world of Harry Potter is often a draw for travelers from all around the world.

One thing that does differ between experiencing it as a child and an adult is the dent it leaves on the bank account, as one mother found out all too well.

Miranda Pearce, a British marketing expert, posted on TikTok about her experiences as she, her husband, and two children, had what looked to be a great day out.

However, all through the day, she kept hold of her receipts and kept a tally of how much everything cost so she could do a grand total at the end, and it's pretty eye-watering.

The caption reads "The cost of 1 day at Universal Studios," as the mother revealed that the cost of the tickets for her family came to $483.66, and fast passes added another $396 on top because she didn't want to be trapped in a queue with a six-year-old.

The family then forked out $62.79 for lunch, $42.60 for one souvenir which was a Harry Potter journal and pen, $36.39 for dinner, $27 to park their car, $21.79 for breakfast, $19.76 for ice cream, $19.16 for drinks, and $4.25 for coffee because the mother of two was naturally flagging.

This means that the family was set back over $1100 for a single day out at Universal Studios, which would presumably be far too much for some.

Viewers were divided in their reaction to the costs, with one person saying: "Yep. We spent the same for three of us a few years ago. One timer probably never again. Same for Disney."

Others were quick to share their money-saving tips, as another viewer said: "1 rucksack, flask of coffee, sandwiches and snacks and sweets. forget fast pass go to far end of park where its quieter and work towards front of park [sic]."

A third said: "14 days at Disney a few weeks back and spent just over $1,000 in total! Backpack, flasks, snacks, Walmart deliveries. Mainly to save queuing!"

Going to Universal Studios is a guaranteed fun day out, but there seem to be ways to save money at the same time! Maybe skip the souvenirs, though, if one notebook and pen is over $40 alone...
