Royal Family fans are in raptures after the Duchess of Sussex released a previously unseen photo of her young son to mark her husband’s 35th birthday. The picture was posted as part of a larger collage, featuring other photos from throughout Prince Harry’s life, ranging from his childhood with William, to his marriage to Meghan Markle.

In addition to the previously unseen photo of the Duke and Duchess with Archie, the nine-strong compilation included images of Harry with his mother, Princess Diana, as well as photos from his time in the Army Air Corps and extensive charity work.

The collage, posted to the official @sussexroyal Instagram account, was accompanied with the caption:

"Wishing a very happy birthday to His Royal Highness Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex! A birthday message from The Duchess of Sussex: Your service to the causes you care so deeply for inspires me every day. You are the best husband and most amazing dad to our son. We love you. Happiest birthday!”

The photo that has caused the most excitement was taken during Archie’s christening, an event which the couple chose not to open to press photographers. Instead, this particular photograph was taken by Chris Allerton, a portrait specialist who was also responsible for photographing the Duke and Duchess on their wedding day, as well as providing the picture for their annual Christmas card.

In addition to restricting who was able to attend the Christening service, the Duke and Duchess originally only published two of Chris Allerton’s photos from the event - a full colour family portrait and an intimate black and white still of the couple and baby.

Having one more to add to the album will no doubt appease a royal-obsessed public.
