A mother and father have been slated online after they shared a Disney "hack" which allows their son to get on rides that he may not be tall enough for.

Going to Disney as a child is one of the most magical experiences that you're ever likely to have as you get to meet the famous characters and have a day of thrills.

But one thing that can put a dampener on the day is the height restrictions that come with certain rides meaning that children can often find themselves missing out.

One set of parents believes they have discovered a way around these height restrictions as they outlined on their TikTok account - and it all involves homemade shoes.

During the clip, the father describes his son Kannon as a "thrill-seeking boy who can’t get enough of Disney theme park rides,” but the issue is, he isn't tall enough to be allowed on most of them.

To get around this, the Kelly family shared their "hack" which involved putting platforms on the soles of their son's shoes to make him taller - but this was met with criticism from viewers who claimed that the parents were putting their son in danger.

"Has it occurred to you that the safety requirements are REQUIREMENTS for a reason," one person said, while another added: "They are designed to make sure people dont die. Fixing his height doesn’t take away the danger of height restrictions."

Another made a pun using the child's name to illustrate the risks, adding: "And just like a canon, he will be yeeted out of his seat."

Former staff members of various amusement parks also offered their experiences as they revealed that they are trained to look out for modified shoes and would deny entry to all those found to be altering their height.

Given that the "hack" was met with immense backlash, the father then posted an update where he clarified things for concerned viewers.

"I would never condone any other parent trying to put their kid on a ride that they aren’t tall enough for," he explained in the video. "You don’t know what happened. In the video, you didn’t see him actually go on any rides."

The father revealed that his son was already tall enough for the rides without the altered shoes, and he even measured him on the video to verify what he was saying. He also clarified that the two "thrill rides" were actually rides intended for kids in the first place.

That still wasn't enough for some viewers who accused the father of "backpedaling" on his original claim and questioned why he made platform shoes for his son if he was already tall enough.

Either way, his son is safe and sound and it seems like he had a great day at Disney.
