These days, it's easier than ever before to whip out your phone and google the first thing that comes to your mind.

However, search engines, like most things in this world, should be used responsibly.

Now, for the greater good of humanity, people on Reddit have compiled a list of things that should never ever be googled. Here they are:

1. Fournier

Orlando Magic NBA player Evan Fournier's surname is sometimes refered to as "Never Google", and he got this nickname for a very, very good reason.

Fournier is an old French word for "Boulanger", which is a type of gangrene that affects the genitals, and it's much worse than you could possibly imagine. Don't risk it.

2. Krokodil

Krokodil is the street name for  Desomorphine, a morphine derivative with powerful opioid effects, and in Ukraine and Russia, it has been used as a Heroin substitute.

It comes with some pretty nasty potential side effects such as the cooking of the skin as it is often illegally produced.

3. Your favorite food

Unless you've got the ingredients to hand or immediate access to a top-quality restaurant, Reddit doesn't recommend googling your favorite food. It will only make you hungry.

4. Mouth larva

Sometimes, everything you need to know about something horrible is in its name. Case in point, mouth larva. For the love of all that is good and holy, don't google it.

5. Google

It's as futile as it sounds.

6. Calculus Bridge

Before you go thinking that it's a maths problem that you can solve to show your genius, it's hardened plaque on a person's teeth. But not just any plaque, either. This is plaque that's so hard that a dentist has to chip it away.

7. Your e-mail address

Now, admittedly, this is one which won't necessarily do you harm to google, but it could scare you quite a bit. If you google your email address, you can discover everything it's linked to, and Reddit users have reported discovering sold accounts, spam, and password leaks among other horrors.

And on that note, a recommended way to discover if your security has been breached is to visit haveibeenpwned.com.

8. Harlequin ichthyosis

This is a severe genetic disease that causes people to be born with thick white plates of skin that are separated by deep cracks, and it can result in many complications for the sufferer.

While at one point it was believed to be a fatal disease, as per Indy100, in 2011 the Archives of Dermatology concluded: "Harlequin ichthyosis should be regarded as a severe chronic disease that is not invariably fatal. With improved neonatal care and probably the early introduction of oral retinoids, the number of survivors is increasing."

9. Your symptoms

Last, but most certainly not least, you should never Google your symptoms when you are feeling under the weather, because it will almost certainly lead you down an anxiety-ridden path to what is likely the wrong conclusion.

And there we have it. Seriously, take our word on this... or rather, should be googled at your peril.
