I don't expect much conversation or interaction from a pizza delivery man. If I'm getting a pizza delivery in the first place, I'm either enjoying company with friends, or I'm shamefully eating all the food I can while playing video games. Either way, I'm not stopping for a long chat with a stranger.
If the family in this story did the same, they would have gone without a particularly impressive encounter. One Hungry Howie's employee was handing over a pepperoni pizza to the Varchetti family when he noticed their piano. Bryce Dudal, the delivery boy, asked the family if he could play - and surprised them all with his secret talent.
As it turned out, the 18-year-old is a prodigy, and launched into a performance of Beethoven's 'Moonlight' Sonata, all from memory. According to the teen, he is self-taught, and has been playing since he was just six years old.
Julie Varchetti, speaking to The Washington Post, said that his performance was "beyond good". She shared a recording of him playing on Facebook, where the post amassed over 490,000 views and 3,700 shares. You can watch the pianist play in the video below:
"A lot of people sit down at the piano and play something slow and beautiful," Bryce told The Washington Post, "but when I play for someone, I like to go all out."
"All they see is a pizza delivery guy," Bryce said, explaining how he loves to surprise people with his hidden talent. And who can blame him? I know I'd be showing off my skills all the time if I was this good at playing the piano.
