While I find it hard to remember my first day of school, I do remember my first day at high school. I was pretty nervous as it was, but my parents didn't exactly make it any better by insisting on taking photos of me as I was trying to leave. It was a bit of a moment for them, but for me I just wanted to get to school and fit in with everyone else.

Once I got settled in with my classmates, things got easier, but it was always intimidating to bump into the big kids who towered over me. Looking back on it, even the most senior of students were still just teenagers, but things seemed a lot different back then. The school building looked absolutely massive to me when I was 11 years old, but once I grew up it seemed like a pretty small and quaint place.

Being that age, you kind of look ridiculous. Being so small and so full of energy compared to the older, grumpier teens makes for a stark contrast. It doesn't help that the backpacks we wore were so big too - far bigger than we actually needed for our books, stationery, and packed lunches. But while the older kids would joke that our bags were as big as we were, this kid actually lives up to that description.

Twitter user Brianna Conerty posted a series of photos of her little brother getting ready for his first day of school onto the social media platform, and they are beyond cute. "My little brother started preschool today," she wrote, adding that "his backpack is literally the same size as him" and "HE IS THE CUTEST THING EVER". Got to say that I 100 per cent agree with her on that point.

Have you ever seen a kid this cute and happy about going to school? He'll probably be a bit more glum after a few years of it, but at this moment he is as adorable and enthusiastic as a human being can be. And if he gets tired on the walk home, his parents can always fit him in the backpack and carry him all the way back.

As you can expect, the internet let out a collective 'awww', and Twitter looked ready to adopt the little one:

With one user getting a new use out of the Kylie Jenner meme that's recently been going around:

And some wondered why they didn't just get a little backpack for him:

On the other side of things, it seems that the internet truly have adopted him as a symbol of absolute cuteness:

It's not that often that someone goes viral before they've even made it to pre-school, but there's a first time for everything. Hopefully Brianna's little brother enjoyed his first day as much as we all enjoyed his photos.
