For most people thinking of starting an OnlyFans, one of the biggest fears would be the thought of a family member seeing your content by accident.
But for Taila Maddison, she not only experienced exactly this, but found out her top subscriber was none other than her own stepdad.
Taila revealed that she began OnlyFans during the pandemic after finding it harder to make a living from her retail job, where she had previously made good money from commission.
She told VT: “After Covid, it was never the same, and it was actually my ex-partner who was like, ‘You should just start an OnlyFans, just on the side and see what happens.’
“I was around 24, and I was like, ‘you know what, I'm only going to look like this once, so why not, let's just do it.’”
Taila started the account by posting bikini photos to around 20 subscribers, but found within just four weeks, her earnings on the site had already started to overtake what she was making at her day job.
She revealed: “I was making maybe a thousand Australian dollars a week, but that was still more than my retail job. So I was like, ‘okay, if I'm making this while still working full-time, then what would happen if I put full-time hours into this?’
“So it was still a risk. I started with nothing. I had $3 in my bank account. I was like, ‘whatever, let's just try.’”
She soon found that one particular subscriber accounted for a large chunk of her earnings on the platform, spending around $2,000 on her content - which later turned out to be someone very close to home.
Revealing how she found out that the big spender was her own stepdad, Taila explained that she’d sat her mom and stepdad down to tell them about her spicy career, not for their approval but so they would not get a shock if they saw her promoting her OnlyFans on her social media.
“And then I just had this subscriber for the first eight weeks. He was definitely keeping me afloat, chatting every single day,” she revealed.
“He would ask for selfies while I was at work because this was the time when I was still working full time. He'd be like, ‘can you show me what you're wearing today? What underwear you're wearing today?’
“And I was just like, oh, my God, this is kind of simple stuff. He just wants to see my G-string and whatever in a random selfie, and he spent 200 USD on it. So you think that it's really great.”
He revealed that he made a TikTok account with the same username he’d signed up to her OnlyFans with, which turned out to be a pretty big error on his part.
“I didn't have a very big TikTok at the time, so it came up ‘This person's viewing your page and it's from your contacts.’ And my ex actually said, ‘oh, imagine if it's your stepdad,’ and I was like, ‘there's no way. That's not going to be him.’”, Taila shared.
After checking her contacts to see which numbers it could possibly be connected to, Taila narrowed it down to a handful of people - one of which was in fact her stepdad.
She then sent the account a message saying she knew who it was, adding: “You need to tell mom before I do.”
Immediately, her stepdad sent her a text asking if they could talk, confirming her suspicions that he was the one buying her explicit content.
While Taila spent most of her time away from the family home, her immediate fear was for the safety of her two younger sisters around their stepdad, so she did a group FaceTime with them and their mother to break the unimaginable news.
Revealing how her mother took the news, Taila said: “My mum's quite vocal, she's very loud, she's a very stern woman. She was silent.
“She just sat there for a moment and then she goes, ‘OK, what has he seen? What has he spent? How long has it been?’ She wanted to see the conversation. So I'm live screenshotting OnlyFans, sending it across to her while on FaceTime.”
Her stepdad was on his way home from work at the same time, a journey which takes an hour and a half, during which time Taila called him while still on the FaceTime with her mother, to confront him for his actions while she listened in.
On the call, he told her that he’d subscribed “for her welfare” but that it had “turned into something that it wasn't supposed to,” and begged her not to tell her mother, not knowing she was also hearing every word.
Taila knew then that he would likely have gone home and lied to her mother to clear his name, but by the time he arrived back 40 minutes later, Taila’s mom had already started packing his things and ordered him to leave their home, ending their 13-year marriage.
“I was 11 when they started dating,” Taila revealed. “And then 12 or 13 when they got married, and my two sisters would have been nine and seven when they got together.
“My first thought was my youngest sister, who was living at home with them at the time, who was 20.
“She was studying from home and he was working from home a lot of the time, and as they lived by the beach she was walking around like sunbaking in a bikini all the time.
“So she was my biggest priority. I was just like, ‘If he's looking at me this way, how's he looking at them as well?’”
Taila revealed that she considered stopping OnlyFans after she found out her stepdad was a subscriber, not posting anything for two weeks after the shocking discovery.
However, she decided to come back to creating content as she enjoyed it, and was making a lucrative living, adding: “I don’t forget that I could know people [who watch my content], but you just have to have a thick enough skin to go ‘Okay. Well if they choose to watch, now that's on them. If it’s someone who's relationship would be inappropriate then that's their fault.
“But I think when it's people like guys from school or someone that I've met out, I'm just like whatever, if you’re paying for it, I’m happy.
“It's easier for me to assume that it's happening, than to be blindsided if I find out.”
And with any adult career, there comes some unusual requests - and Taila revealed the strangest ones she’s ever had.
While most of the requests she gets are harmless fun, there is one instance where Taila had to flat out refuse someone’s proposal.
She explained: “I've had one that I turned down where a guy wanted me to pretend to be his four-year-old niece.
“I can't remember his name but he's like can you call me uncle something and saying he wanted me to like use her name, and I was like ‘First of all, it's completely against terms of service, but I could never that is really messed up,’ and he actually said ‘Well, I just thought because you talk about your stepdad that that would be okay.’
“I'm like, ‘this is completely different, I’m an adult - this is a child.’”
As for the others, Taila revealed: “My favorite funniest one is to take a birthday cake into the shower and sit on it.
“And obviously a million stepdad roleplay requests came after I shared my story.
“I have had one where this guy wanted me to pretend that he was tiny and I had eaten him, and he’d gone through my whole digestive system. And these ones are funny because I actually don't have to do anything except sit there and talk to the camera.
“I’m 5’11”, so because I’m already tall, guys are like ‘oh this is great, we can play into the giant thing.”
