A woman has revealed that a stranger once offered her $200,000 for her dog and her response has ignited a debate.

Dog owners will understand that there's very little in this world that compares to the unconditional love that your pooch can bring.

If you ask your dog-owning friends what amount of money they would accept to give up their dog, the answer will more often than not be "no amount of money".

Because after all, dogs are family, and we can't sell family as much as we might want to sometimes.

In a viral TikTok video that has over 950,000 views, Alexis Elliott (@itsalexiselliott), a dog mom from the Los Angeles area, reveals that someone recently offered her $200,000 for her Doberman Pinscher puppy.

In the video, Elliott recalled the encounter with the potential buyer, declaring: "Someone offered us $200k for our puppy, and I told my husband, 'absolutely f***ing not.' Would you guys sell your dogs for $200k? Like, that is my baby!"

Despite making what I (and hopefully many others) believe to be the correct decision, this didn't stop a debate breaking out in the comments about whether the dog mom did the right thing.

Some believed that she should have taken the money, as one person wrote: "That dog would have been outside I can get another dog."

Elliott was quick to respond, saying: "You shouldn’t have another [one] if they are disposable to you."

Another person said: "It’s a crime to not accept 200k," while a third said: "In this economy, I wish I had so many puppies to sell for $200k a piece."

If you're horrified by people who would be willing to sell their dog to a stranger, then fear not, because a lot of comments also stated how no amount of money could ever part them from their canine companion.

One person wrote: "I live and breathe for my dogs. They are MY CHILDREN. Would you sell your child for 200K NO??"

A second said: "ABSOLUTELY NOT. The people saying yes should not have a dog tbh. That boy is my life," while a third added: "Omg never. The thought of my dog being confused and feeling abandoned breaks my heart."

In case this story about dogs has made you want to see a dog that will melt your heart, then meet a black labrador puppy called Burreaux.

According to the Mirror, the adorable puppy was brought to the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana with his siblings by director Courtney Wingate.

Quickly after his arrival, Courtney noticed something different about Burreaux, and that was that he has the adorable ability to smile at people.

After grinning at those who stopped by the rescue center to choose a dog, one couple couldn't resist taking little Burreaux home and he's now living his best life in his forever home.

Once again, just in case anyone is still unclear, dogs are the best.
