With all the ways we can stay connected to our loved ones, it's easy to make a few faux pas on social media. Whether this is sending a text to the wrong person, or - god forbid - sending a screenshot of a conversation back to the person you were having it with, these mistakes are now a normal part of living in an era dominated by social media.

One woman, however, was left mortified after she sent her mother some pictures of her newly decorated bedroom - with her handcuffs in full view. Ella Martine, who is a university student, managed to take the embarrassing moment in her stride though, and shared the exchange on Twitter.

Ella's mum wasted no time in bringing up the handcuffs. "Nice. Except for the handcuffs??? What's up with that?" she replied to the teen's picture.

The tweet, which has garnered an impressive 100,000 retweets, was captioned: "Mom's been asking for pics of my new room... finally sent one... I'm so stupid."

She did, however, try to offer some sort of explanation. "I told her that my roommate was making a short film for a class, she didn't believe me," Ella added on Twitter.

Her mother eventually concluded that the cuffs looked "super tacky" and "not very classy".

Ella ultimately decided to see the humour in the situation, concluding "I've gotta boyfriend, y'all. Life's too short, enjoy the tweet."

Naturally, the people of Twitter thought it was just hilarious:

We've all made mistakes, guys, and this is a lot more common than you'd expect. Case in point, this young woman who was with on vacation with her boyfriend and ended up in a major faux pas when she accidentally sent a NSFW picture to her own dad.

It all started when a 22-year-old woman named Kelsey took a mirror selfie while on holiday with her boyfriend Elliot.

However, little did she know that she'd accidentally left a bottle of lube on the dresser right in front of the looking glass. By the time Kelsey realized the extent of her gaffe, she'd already sent the salacious snap to her dad.

Upon viewing the mortifying image, Kelsey's mom texted her, writing "Dad said the pics r lovely, nice Durex bottle. [sic]" Red-faced, Kelsey quickly came up with a line, writing: "It’s Elliot’s knee cream!" However, her mom shot down the flimsy excuse by replying: "Dad zoomed in!"

When a lot of Twitter users mocked her for her screw-up, Kelsey posted a follow-up tweet, in which she stated: "Some people [are] getting a right little bee in their bonnet about a little bit of lube. Calm down darlings x"

However, it's not just kids who can make these mistakes. As it turns out, parents are just as bad too. Check out this article we penned all about the mom who accidentally gave her daughter a Christmas present with an unintentionally NSFW detail.
