A woman has taken to TikTok to share the moment she flew 14 hours to surprise her long-distance boyfriend on another continent.
TikToker @laurynmapusua recently took to the social media platform to reveal that she had flown all the way from the United States to Sweden and traveled a total distance of 5,665 miles by plane, bus, and foot all to surprise her boyfriend.
Documenting her journey, Lauryn shared a video of the moment she surprised her boyfriend on TikTok, all set to the romantic vocals of Ellie Goulding's 'Still Falling For You'.
She captioned the post: "He was definitely surprised and confused".
However, after amassing a whopping 3.7 million views, social media users had another take on the video.
Check out the video below:Yes, instead of embracing his girlfriend in a moment you'd expect to see in a Meg Ryan rom-com, he kinda just... lays there.
Now, the reasonable explanation for the reaction is probably that he was just very surprised and didn't quite know what to do - especially with somebody filming the whole thing. (Note: In a comment on another video, Lauryn does reveal that the person recording the reaction is his childhood best friend.)
But some TikTokers couldn't help but find the whole thing rather uncomfortable.
"He didn't look that excited," one person commented, which was echoed by another who wrote: "Red Flag".
A third said: "This was painful to watch."
"You went 5,665 miles and HE CAN'T GET UP OFF THE COUCH? He doesn't even hug you? Please leave him sis [red flag emoji]."
One person revealed what they would have done in that situation, writing: "I would of booked my flight home pronto."
Another joked: "I don't think he knows you".
Others commented how they thought Lauryn is the "other girl" in the relationship, and why person quipped: "When he already made plans now he's trying to figure out how to hide you."
Lauryn did attempt to repost the video with a different song and caption, explaining that she had surprised her boyfriend early, as he thought she was coming at the end of the month.
However, the comments were much the same.
In fact, one person even commented: "Imagine posting this twice so we get to relive the awkwardness again".
Of course, there may be another explanation for all of this; perhaps Lauryn and her boyfriend are pranking us all and set up the whole thing to wind us up.
...I really hope that's the case.
