If you're feeling particularly down this Valentine's Day because of an ex that has done you wrong, then you may be able to get your revenge.

February 14 can be a really difficult day to be single, because other couples will flaunt their love quite openly.

For those who are still dealing with heartbreak, it might be best to stay off of social media and go for a walk or something.

But if you feel the need to get back at a former love, then spare yourself the hassle of keying their car and perhaps take up this offer from a zoo.

The San Antonio Zoo is offering a cathartic solution with its annual "Cry Me A Cockroach" fundraiser, aimed at supporting the zoo's vision of securing a future for wildlife in Texas and around the world.

A cockroach can be named for $10, a rat for $25, and a vegetable - added this year as a plant-based alternative - costs $5. Proceeds go toward supporting the zoo’s wildlife conservation efforts.

Participants receive a downloadable Valentine’s Day card and an exclusive video featuring a zoo resident. The event will also be streamed live on the zoo’s social media on February 14, allowing viewers to witness their ex getting eaten.

If you're concerned about the welfare of the cockroaches for whatever reason, before they get eaten they are well looked after by the Reptile Department in the Reptile House and are sourced from professional breeders.

For those looking for another creative way to cope with heartbreak this Valentine’s Day, the Columbus Zoo in Powell, Ohio, has a unique offer.

For $15, participants can name a superworm after an ex and watch it become a snack for the zoo’s resident sloth bears, Randhir and Heiderose.

“Not only will you get a good laugh, but you’ll also be supporting world-class animal care and vital conservation efforts,” the zoo stated.

As part of the event, the zoo will release a special Valentine’s Day video showcasing the bears feasting on the beetle larvae.

And if anyone wants to take everything a step further, how about giving your ex's name to a literal pile of poo?

As part of the Doo Some Good initiative, the Fort Worth Zoo invites participants to “ditch the flowers and chocolate this year and opt for something a little more organic.”

For $10, donors can dedicate a pound of animal waste in their ex’s name and receive a digital certificate to mark the occasion.

The zoo partners with a third-party organization to compost the large amounts of waste its animals produce, turning heartbreak into an eco-friendly effort.

So there you have it, there's no need to be sad this Valentine's Day - go out there and get your revenge!
