A 19-year-old TikTok star is urging men to "leave women alone" after a much older man asked for her number at the gym.

Avrey Ovard posted footage of the encounter last weekend to TikTok, captioning the post: "LEAVE WOMEN ALONE!!!!"

The gym-goer had been filming herself stretching on a mat when she was approached by a man, supposedly in his 40s, who tried to make small talk with her before eventually asking her for her number.

The teen immediately responds: "Oh, I'm sorry - I'm too young for you."

Check out the video here:

The man, whose face cannot be seen in the video, then retorts: "I'm too rich for you."

The video has since gone viral with 2.4 million views, 399,000 likes, and over 7,000 comments at the time of writing.

A number of those in the comments highlighted the man's "defensiveness" after being rejected by the teen.

For example, one of the commenters wrote: "LMAOOO 'I'm too rich' his ego is so hurt."

Another said: "The way he gets immediately defensive when u were perfectly reasonable lol... ok fully grown man child. [sic]"

A third remarked: "The fact that he got so defensive and embarrassed after you said I'm too young for him..."

However, not everyone was so critical of the man at the center of the encounter, with one TikTok commenter defending him: "Honestly, the guy [didn't] really do anything wrong. He liked her. He asked her out and he wasn't rude about it. She could've just said no."

Another chimed in: "I mean he didn't do anything wrong"

Ovard spoke about the incident in a YouTube video in which she revealed: "I have never been hit on at the gym before and I see a lot of TikToks about girls being hit on at the gym and I always think I'm really lucky that that's never happened to me."

And then - what do you know - the same thing ends up happening to her.
