A flight attendant has revealed why you should keep one shoe in your hotel safe when traveling.

Now there are many handy tips and tricks to remember when traveling to a new place, such as making copies of important documents, carrying an extra travel lock and thoroughly researching the area you're staying.

But recently, a tip posted to TikTok by flight attendant Esther Sturrus has got the whole of the internet talking.

Taking to the video-sharing platform, Sturrus posted a video sharing six of her niftiest tips when staying in a hotel abroad.

The 47-second video, which has been viewed over 1.2 million times, begins with a tip that urges folks to close up curtains that just won't meet in the middle with a clothes hanger, while the second states: "[Is] your world travel plug broken?"

"Use your USB cable and charge it in the TV," the solution reads.

That one's pretty cool, I must admit.

The third tip and fifth tip involve disposable shower caps which, according to the flight attendant, can be used as shoe and remote covers as those things can get pretty dirty.

And the sixth tip suggests that you can substitute one of your other cards to power the lights in your room.

As for the all-important fourth tip, which is the one that seemingly got everyone talking, Sturrus urges travelers to put a shoe in the safe/locker which is usually a place where all the valuables are stored.

Why?

So you don't forget to check in there before you leave! Because when you're wondering where your other shoe is, you'll remember you stored it away in the safe, along with your passport, keys, and money - and those are all things you never want to leave behind.

“Worried about forgetting something from your locker? Put your heel or shoe in it and you won't forget it.”

It seems as though people definitely noted that one down.

"Heel shoe hack great idea," wrote one user, while another added: "Wow! These are really cool ideas... Thanks for sharing!"

A third also commented: "Finally someone that knows what she is talking about.

However, not everyone was on board with this person pointing out: "Or, you can just make sure you check the room for left valuables before you walk out for the last time. Come on people."

Thanks for that one, Captain Obvious.

Anyway, always double-check where you've put your valuables when traveling, people.
