A woman has revealed what things are really like on board a spicy adults-only cruise after splashing out on the experience.
The idea of a spicy cruise may be too much for many, but the fact of the matter is that sex positive events and getaways for those in the lifestyle are becoming more common.
Sophia Money-Coutts set off on the inaugural cruise run by Killing Kittens, a sex party company founded in 2005 by Emma Sayle, which describes itself as “the ultimate female empowerment brand,” though most know it for the sex parties it has thrown in the past.
Sayle previously said, as per The Times, that she "realised that there was nowhere for women to go to feel empowered to explore their sexuality without being judged," so the goal was to create this space.
The £15 million ($20 million) company has thrown these types of parties in mansions and estates across Europe in recent years, but it has shifted its focus to cruises.
Sophia was onboard the inaugural cruise, which was making its way from Barcelona to Monaco, and then back again.
Sophia explained that there were 630 passengers on board for a week of "hedonism," claiming that "if you were a germaphobe, you would be less worried about hantavirus and more concerned about chlamydia on this ship."
Members can upload their most recent sexually transmitted infection (STI) tests to their profile in the app, too.
Sophia got chatting to passengers at the cruise's welcome drinks event, with small talk often veering to sexual topics with little hesitation.
She was even asked if she would "play," which means joining in with the sexual activities, including swinging.
Cabins on the cruise cost anywhere from £5,000 to £35,000 ($6,700 to $47,000), and it is fully sold out.
Sophia joked that she may find a "handsome kinky billionaire" on board, before quickly explaining that there are no single men on the cruise, like all Killing Kittens parties.
"Only single women or couples, to guard against perverts. Or at least, a specific type of pervert," she explained.
She said that just one hour after setting sail, there's nudity, recalling: "Tits out. Willies everywhere. The sun glints off one man’s c**k ring."
Age ranges onboard, noting that the youngest passenger is 24 and the oldest is 74 and while there are a lot of Brits and Americans, there are also Europeans, in addition to Canadians, Ghanaians, Japanese, and Turkish passengers attending.
There's an app called Wax, where a private chat group was set up, with people speaking about being with "all you open-minded sexy people."
"Unsurprisingly, the vibe is carefree. It’s pretty relaxing being surrounded by so many bare bottoms, boobs and all shapes and sizes," Sophia noted.
"Nobody seems concerned about cellulite or a bit of belly. Plenty have simply whipped it all off and are chatting happily in the whirlpools."
There are several reminders on the app, on board and from staff, that consent rules apply, with 78 KK officials on board, as guests are encouraged to speak to them if they feel uncomfortable.
Men cannot make the first move; women must lead the way, while there are "free packets of lube and condoms" set out in the playroom and the dungeon on the ship.
Apparently, 2,000 condoms are used per week.
"To get everyone in the mood for the playroom and the dungeon, daily activities are laid on, as well as the nightly cabaret," Sophia said.
She said that while there is yoga and Zumba in the morning, there are also classes for beginners' lap dance and spanking fundamentals, in addition to private sessions which cost more.
Some of these sessions include “Unleash your inner dominant” and “Boudoir photography experience.”
At the opening of the dungeon and the playroom, Sophia sees a British woman kneeling on a spanking bench while being spanked with a tasselled whip by a sex therapist and dominatrix from Brighton.
She noted an elderly man kneeling at the other end of the room, a submissive who is friends with the woman being whipped, and he is happy to be there.
Describing the playroom, Sophia said there were 32 double beds in the room, coupled with red lighting, as sofas and throne chairs surround the beds for those wanting to watch couples romp between the sheets.
She recalled that she felt like David Attenborough, "standing in the jungle, surveying a bunch of horny gorillas," before heading to bed.
Sophia even attends an "erotic wrestling" class, where she learns that it is a "version of play fighting," and while we did it as kids, it can become an erotic act as adults.
She would later meet a couple, where the woman wore a metal collar around her neck at all times, and brings her partner a cup of tea every morning on her knees, even greeting him in the evening by getting on her knees.
Sophie would agree to a "taster session" with the couple, kneeling on the spanking bench where the man tried some of his whips and floggers on her.
She has to say green every now and then to indicate that they're okay to continue, or red to stop it immediately.
Sophia said she found the situation "amusing and interesting," though she was looking forward to going back to the room to read her book after the eye-opening process.
Not everyone's cup of tea, then.

If you want to take your cruise game up a notch, then a company has launched a trip that could get a bit "spicy".
Killing Kittens, the kink-positive event company known for its hedonistic, female-led parties, is launching a one-of-a-kind cruise for adventurous couples and solo women ready to trade the usual beach read for masked balls and latex parties under the stars.
Departing from Barcelona and stopping at Monte Carlo, Florence, and Portofino, the cruise’s itinerary might look like a luxury getaway at first glance. But what’s planned on board is far from your typical holiday.
Guests will experience Killing Kittens’ most popular events, including its famous White Party, a masked ball, the primal Kreatures of the Night soiree, the latex-themed Dominion, and Hedonism, the brand’s longest-running event.
But while the cruise invites guests to let loose in one of the onboard “play rooms,” founder Emma Sayle’s strict rules ensure that even at sea, pleasure doesn’t override respect.
All guests must adhere to the three core values of Killing Kittens: privacy, confidentiality, and discretion.
Revealing the identity of fellow guests is strictly prohibited, and harassment, abuse, or harm of any kind will not be tolerated. The rules also demand honesty about relationships, so if you’re bringing your spouse, “don’t pretend she isn’t.”
No Solo Men Allowed
The cruise is strictly for solo women and women with their partners, staying true to Killing Kittens’ mission of celebrating female pleasure and ensuring the safety of women, trans, and non-binary individuals. Solo men are not allowed onboard, let alone in playrooms.
As Emma Sayle tells Metro: “Obviously it’s consent, consent, consent, and everything is based on respect and being a decent human being.”
Guests will sign consent and attendance forms onboard, and unlike land-based Killing Kittens parties, there is no need for prior membership – just a commitment to follow the rules.
Dress Codes and Themed Nights
You can’t just strip off anywhere on this cruise, either. Emma explains there are designated clothing-optional areas, while the event nights have specific dress codes.
“You’ll need to adhere to the dress code depending on the theme of the night,” Emma explains.
“The White party is self explanatory – it’s all white; the masked ball is black tie and ball gowns with masks; kreatures of the night is woodland, goddesses, nymphs – a chance to play real dress up.
“Hedonism is beach club wear in the day, and in the night Dominion is latex and leather.”
For those lacking the perfect mask or headdress, the ship will offer mask and headdress-making stations to help guests fully embrace each erotic theme.
The Devil Is in the Details
The cruise sets sail on June 9, 2026, for six nights of kink, connection, and curated experiences.
Prices start around $6,000 for an interior cabin, with the trip being fully all-inclusive. This means guests can indulge in food, drinks, and many onboard experiences without extra costs, though some special activities will incur additional fees.
Beyond the nightly parties, guests can take part in cooking classes, wine and whiskey tastings, sunrise yoga, morning run clubs, and sex workshops covering relationships, self-expression, sensory play, and even a “filthy quiz night.”
Couples may also enjoy a highlight of the week: couples’ speed dating, offering a playful chance to meet like-minded adventurers.

Have you ever wondered what goes on board a "spicy cruise"?
Temptation Cruises has become a go-to for those seeking a mix of sun, sea, and sexual adventure, offering everything from racy stage shows to educational workshops, but it’s the cruise’s secret “red room” that has everyone talking.
The X-rated cruises are not full-blown sex parties, but they’re certainly different enough for passengers to know they aren’t booking a family-friendly trip.
These cruises are strictly adults-only, geared toward couples and open-minded singles ready to explore their sexuality while traveling at sea.
Temptation Cruises features “playrooms” and clothing-optional areas that allow guests to push their boundaries.
TikTok couple Bella and Jase shared their experience onboard, highlighting the ship’s theme parties, spa and sauna facilities, and live burlesque shows.
Intimacy coach and hypnotherapist Kate Shelor, who hosts racy seminars onboard, described the cruises to DailyMail.com as an environment where guests can embrace their desires without judgment.
“The Temptation Cruises aren't explicitly swingers cruises, but I would say that it's probably 60 to 70 per cent people who are in that lifestyle,” she explained. “The other 30 per cent are not, but they want a fun, sexy, adult atmosphere.”
Kate described the guests as ranging from their mid-twenties to mid-fifties, adding: “I would say there's people that are there to swing for sure, then there are couples who don't interact with other couples. They don't play, they don't swing, but they may want to do something a little wild.
“There’s a lot of people who may just want to push some personal boundaries and feel a little bit, you know, dangerous and exciting. And then there's also areas where you can be completely nude, but that is in the indoor pool area only and the rules are very strict.”
But what really happens in the “red room”?
According to Kate, “the Playroom is an exclusive area for couples only,” and it’s where some of the wildest experiences occur.
Cameras and photos are banned, and staff are stationed at the doors to protect the privacy of those inside.
Inside, couples can either observe while sipping a drink or join in on the action on circular beds with protective covers. Kate runs her “hypnotic sex seminar” in this space, guiding up to 60 couples toward a shared climax.
“I do a hypnotic sex seminar. It's couples only, but they can bring a third,” she said. Once inside, couples or throuples find a mattress, are blindfolded to heighten their senses, and are guided to touch each other until “in the end, you have a room full of people orgasming together.”
“They're asking me to do three instead of two on the next cruise because they're so popular!” she added, noting her seminars sell out every time.
Temptation Cruises has strict guidelines to ensure comfort and respect for all guests:

A woman who works aboard so-called “spicy” cruise ships is shedding light on what really happens behind the closed doors of the infamous “red rooms”, and it’s not for the faint of heart.
“Spicy” is a term affectionately used by frequent travelers in the swinging and adult lifestyle communities to describe these adults-only cruises. While not exclusively for swingers, these voyages offer a liberating space for open-minded couples, and yes, partner-swapping is an option for those who are curious.
Kate Shelor, an intimacy coach and certified hypnotherapist based in Las Vegas, has twice worked aboard one such cruise run by Temptation, a company that charters entire ships to create a uniquely uninhibited experience at sea.
One of the most intriguing (and secretive) aspects of these cruises is the “red room,” a private, couples-only space where phones and cameras are strictly prohibited and access is closely monitored by staff, Kate explained on her TikTok.
The room’s exact location varies depending on the ship, but it’s always situated in one of the larger venues due to its popularity. Before each voyage, staff load brand new mattresses onto the ship, along with stacks of clean linens.
“They bring in loads of fresh mattresses covered with plastic, topped with sheets, towels, and water stations. The lighting is soft and sexy, it’s all set up to make people feel relaxed and comfortable,” Kate said.
The red room is outfitted for intimacy, whether it’s between partners or shared with others, and guests are free to participate as little or as much as they like. Some come just to observe, sip a drink, and take in the atmosphere.
Kate’s role isn’t just to oversee; she also leads unique “hypnotic sex” sessions. Using her background in hypnosis and intimacy coaching, she guides couples through a meditative, sensual experience intended to deepen connection and even trigger simultaneous orgasms in a group setting.
Though it might sound like a wild party to some, for many, these cruises provide a safe, respectful environment for exploring desires in a consensual and supportive community.
Kate’s insight offers a rare peek into a world that’s often talked about in whispers, but for those aboard, it’s just another night at sea where freedom takes the helm.

Have you ever wondered what sort of things you get when you step onboard a "spicy" cruise?
If you're looking to take your vacation game up a notch and get a bit steamy, there are cruises that are specifically designed for that.
And to make things even more exciting, there are gift bags!
Bella, who shares her swinger lifestyle with her partner Jase on TikTok @4ourplay.com, recently documented her third trip on a Temptation cruise, a unique adults-only voyage aboard the Celebrity Summit.
Unlike standard cruises, these voyages invite guests to explore consensual adult fun, providing an environment where “couples, and strangers, can get frisky out in the open, swap sexual partners and display their kinks.”
The couple split their content between TikTok and YouTube, and in a YouTube vlog, she revealed what free stuff you can expect to get on board.
"Everybody gets this bag," Bella says as she holds up a bright yellow bag with "Naughty by Nature" written on it.
The couple advised to write your name or tie a distinctive ribbon on it so it doesn't get mixed up with other passengers.
To kick it off, the bag contains two pens and a magazine full of info, which is the height of excitement.
But as for the more NSFW stuff, there are packets of lubricant, and a do not disturb door sign for... obvious reasons.
You also get two yellow lanyards.
Bella, who is no stranger to the swinger scene, explained that she and Jase also participate in “hotel takeovers” and stay in swinger-specific resorts.
Onboard, they stayed in their usual cabin, which Bella described as “contemporary and modern,” featuring a spacious layout with a window, TV, couch, desk, and large bed, along with a bathroom she “loved.”
During the cruise, Bella showcased the large buffet where she and Jase reunited with friends, saying: “We got a bite to eat with some friends that we haven’t seen in a long time.”
Later, she revealed how she decorated their cabin door with memes referencing “orgies,” “foursomes,” and “double b***jobs,” adding: “It’s a known thing that swingers like to decorate their door and so these are our favorite memes that Jase and I made.”
A standout feature in swinger communities is the upside-down pineapple, a discreet symbol for those seeking lifestyle connections.
Bella and Jase embraced this tradition by hanging pineapples on their door, displaying hoodies with upside-down pineapples and anchors, and adding a magnet stating: “Cum on in, do not disturb.”
Bella’s TikTok comments revealed mixed reactions, with some viewers stunned by the idea of these cruises, writing: “My jaw dropped,” while others celebrated the concept, saying: “This is great. A safe place to have adult consensual fun. Everyone on the ship knows what’s up. I bet they have safety procedures. Smart.”
A former crew member on a Celebrity cruise echoed the intrigue, commenting: “I was a crew member for Celebrity Cruises and was onboard for one of these… I saw some things man.”
Temptation cruises enforce strict rules despite the “spicy” atmosphere, including a zero-tolerance policy on drugs, noise restrictions in corridors, and a ban on photos and videos in certain areas.
Pools and some deck spaces are topless-optional, but other areas like restaurants require clothing, and the cruise organizes daily workshops centered on intimacy and sexuality for singles and couples.
