In this age of vanity that we are living in, cosmetic surgery is becoming an increasingly popular mode of body modification for many people. Whether it's a face-lift, a tummy tuck or a boob job, there are an array of procedures for people looking to alter their appearance to varying degrees.
However, with this accessibility, comes extremity. We now have human Ken Dolls, real-life Jessica Rabbits and the man who wants to look like Brooklyn Beckham.
Of course, this crave for extreme procedures leads to a section of them going wrong and this certainly seems to be the case for Allegra Cole. Appearing on E! show Botched, the 44-year-old has opened up about her experience with plastic surgery.
"At the age of 33, I got my first breast implants and they were 800 ccs," Allegra said.
"But I was getting that boob greed a little bit. Wanted to be fuller, bigger."
However, Allegra's "boob greed" got the better of her and she is now asking Botched surgeons Dr Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif to help make her breasts symmetrical again.
To get the size that she desired, Allegra used a website in which people financially support women who want to undergo cosmetic surgery on their breasts.
"They would buy picture sets [or] request certain things for a certain dollar amount and the site would cut the check to the doctor, and you would just go and get implants," Allegra explained.
This time, Allegra had her implants increased to 1,700 ccs - more than double what she had had before. But this didn't suffice. Despite the fact she had an "elephant" on her chest, Allegra still wanted bigger breasts.
"So I found out about a doctor that did tissue expanders where I could expand with saline and grown my implants," Allegra continued.
"I love being in control, and I love being in control of my own breast size."
Within months, Allegra increased the size to over 4,000 ccs. However, having breasts of this size is not easy and the 44-year-old explains that she has to have regular strength training sessions to keep her upper body in good enough shape to carry the excess weight. "I definitely use the gym to strengthen my back and keep my core strong so that I can hold these girls up," she added.
"I actually have 20-plus pounds of weight vest on - but it is the cutest weight vest you've ever worn, I promise."
Allegra claims that she is happy with the size of her breasts, she just wants them to be more symmetrical. "After the expanders were put in, I did notice that my left side sat a little bit higher and was firmer," she said. "The more that I increase the size, the more it became apparent.
"So what I would love for the doctors to be able do is fix the asymmetry." She added: "I'll be the poster child of extreme surgery, but still wear it well."
Allegra's story serves as a clear example about the dangers of extreme surgery. If you're thinking of going under the knife, make sure you think about the procedure and the ramifications it may have.
