Many countries around the world including Spain and Italy have introduced lockdowns in a bid to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

However, because of the significant disruption that staying at home is having on people's day to day lives, not everyone is following governmental advice, putting the elderly and those with underlying health conditions at risk of the worst effects of COVID-19.

Now, one Italian woman has shared a video of her father defying lockdown to get his morning coffee.

Thankfully, however, not all was as it seemed in the playful clip which was shared on Twitter by the Growing Up Italian account.

Watch the hilarious video below:

In the video, the woman can be heard questioning her father about where he is planning to go. He then tells her that he is going out to get a coffee.

"The coffee shops are closed," she says. "Do you not understand?'

He replies: "What do you mean they're closed! I'm going to get a coffee."

The woman continues to encourage her father to stay at home, saying: "Everything is closed, you can't go out!"

The man pays no attention to his daughter's pleas, telling her that he is "tired and bored" and insists on going out. However, it soon becomes apparent that he wasn't planning on going far.

These quarantined were filmed chanting "Don't give up!":

Instead of breaking Italy's lockdown, the man simply steps out the door and asks his wife for his morning coffee through the open kitchen window... Because Italians need their morning coffee.

"Excuse me, is this bar open?" he asks. "Please may I have a coffee?" In the background, his daughter can be heard laughing.

Needless to say, Twitter users were delighted by the video, which, at the time of writing, has been viewed 4.6 million times.

One wrote: "My 81 yo dad is from Sicily. I can see him doing this to my mother. She wouldn't laugh though."

A second added: "Brilliant. May he survive the virus & live long."

A third joked: "I bet she sells gelato in the evening LOL."

Meanwhile, this man managed to get around the lockdown in an innovative way by sending his pet chihuahua to the store to get Cheetos.
