A "traumatized" woman has sent social media users into a frenzy after revealing a stomach-turning discovery in her blender.

TikToker Niki Detrich - who goes by the handle @nikidetrich - shared a video urging her followers to thoroughly clean their blenders after she found maggots inside the blade.

The influencer started off by explaining that she rinses her blender out with hot water after each use and then shockingly admitted that she only used soap after every three uses.

"I had the most traumatic thing happen to me today and, I need to do a quick PSA (public service announcement)," she started her TikTok.

"If you are the type of person who doesn’t always fully wash your blender blades, you need to listen to this because I’m not doing ok," she continued. "I have always, whenever I use my blender, immediately rinsed out my blades with hot water."

She went on: "And then maybe every three uses, I’ll scrub it out with soap, and you might be thinking 'Niki, what the hell is wrong with you?'"

Niki then confessed that she assumed hot water was enough to clear out all the "crud" from the blades

She explained that her cleaning failure led to "little maggots," in her blaze, before showing viewers clear footage of the small bugs writhing on her blender.

Niki let out a scream and said: "I had maggots in my blender blades, probably because I don’t really wash them out. I think my educated guess is that its fruit fly larvae that laid eggs there."

She concluded her video with a clear message, saying: "So wash your blades - don’t be like me," and it's safe to say the video - which amassed 1.8 million views - also left several people traumatized.

One user wrote: "This is so much worse than what my imagination was thinking."

A fourth shared: "She made a psa to tell us to wash our blades after every use. Bro who doesn't do that?"

Numerous commenters asked the woman whether she had thrown the blender away, but in a follow-up video, she showed viewers that she did not.

The TikToker clarified that the blade could not be pulled apart to wash it, and that could she place the appliance in the dishwasher.

"It’s kind of like a Nutribullet where the cup sits on the top. The actual cups itself can go in the top rack of the dishwasher," she went on. "But (the blade), I cannot put in the dishwasher because it’s all mechanical."

The incident has left Niki traumatized and searching every inch of her house for more maggots. She did disclose that has not used the blender since and asked her followers for the exact name of the maggots.

Furthermore, the digital creator shared a recent clip revealing that she reached out to the company that sold her the blender. They sent her a new blaze and told her to "blend up soap and water” and to clean it out with vinegar once a month so she doesn't get a reoccurrence of the creatures.
