If someone told you at the start of this year that you might be interested in buying a face mask that looks like a pair of testicles, you likely would've been utterly baffled.

In the days, months and years before the coronavirus pandemic hit, many of us would never have had a reason to don a face mask outside of a hastily put together Halloween costume.

Donald Trump mocks Joe Biden's face mask in this video:

Now, though, they have become an integral part of our lives and a key aspect of governments' bids to slow the spread of the pandemic.

As such, all manner of inventive face mask designs have hit the market, including personalized designs that have your own face printed on them (often to hilarious and unintended effect), and one man who bizarrely used a live snake as a covering during a bus journey in Manchester, England.

If you're yet to find the perfect niche face mask for yourself, though, and have just been using disposable throwaway masks up until this point, then you might be interested in the latest irreverent product to hit the shelves, the 'BallBag Face Mask'.

Yes - it's a face mask that looks like a pair of testicles, and yes - you really can order one for yourself. Creator Billy warns that demand has been so high for the masks that he has had to temporarily put orders on hold, but the website promises that they will be back on sale soon.

A product description for the unique face covering, which is currently retailing at £24.99 (roughly $33) reads:

"After a huge number of requests I'm finally very happy to introduce the new Ballbag Face Mask.

"Specifically designed to fit snuggly round the nose and mouth, the BallBag Face Mask will not only protect you from air born nasties but will spread happiness and joy wherever you wear it.

"Handmade in the UK using skin safe silicone. It's super soft and stretchy and will fit almost any face."

A disclaimer on the site notes that the BallBag Face Mask is not a medical mask, and so should be used with that in mind.

Creator Billy got the idea for the masks after using his skills in prosthetics and make-up to create a pair of testicles for a friend's stag-do. His mates were blown away by the results, and so Billy has turned his imaginative brainchild into a potentially lucrative side hustle.

It would certainly be a unique look to rock on your next trip to the store...
