Online retailer Yandy is no stranger to producing weird, wonderful and even occasionally controversial Halloween costumes, often putting a 'sexy' spin on topical newsworthy items.

Yes, in the past we've been confronted with a sexy 'mail-in ballot' costume, a racy Tiger King-inspired outfit and even a sold out Popeye's chicken sandwich costume last year (remember those simpler times?)

So perhaps it was inevitable that it would lead to this - a 'sexy' hand sanitizer Halloween costume, which, to be fair, at least keeps the importance of hand cleanliness at the forefront of our minds this spooky season.

Had sanitizer has become an integral part of our lives this year, during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and Yandy has certainly jumped firmly onto the sanitizer bandwagon with both feet.

A product description for the Yandy Hand Sanitizer Costume reads;

"Did you disinfect from head to toe cause you're glowing with that germ-free vibe! Just a pump is all it takes to put bacteria at bay.

"Wash away the dirt of the day, and soak in that squeaky clean feeling in this exclusive Hand Sanitizer costume featuring a mint green bodysuit with a scoop neckline, a Yandy Hand Sanitizer print with 'Kills 99.99% of germs', a pink Yandy logo, and a matching clear vinyl flared dress with velcro straps attached to the skirt. (Shoes not included.)"

The costume retails for $69.95, is described as coming in a 'mint' colorway and is available in small, medium and large sizes.

"Wash away the dirt of the day, and soak in that squeaky clean feeling in this exclusive Hand Sanitizer costume," reads a tweet from Yandy.

"[A] Sexy Hand Sanitizer costume is not anything my mind could have imagined before 2020," wrote one Twitter user of the costume.

Earlier this year, Yandy's vice president of merchandising told Business Insider that the company would not be selling any "sexy covid" costumes.

Pilar Quintana-Williams told the publication:"I don't think there's anything sexy about it.

She added: "I think that it has been a difficult year for everybody with quarantine, with all the changes.

"So the stakes are high. But again, we want to bring humour and we want to bring light heartedness to the holiday."
