A 25-year-old woman was found dead in the early hours of Monday morning, in a wooded area surrounding the popular music festival, Bestival. The woman, who hails from London, is believed to have been murdered.
Police were notified around 1am this morning after revellers attending the event at Lulworth Castle had reason to be concerned about the welfare of the woman.
Dorset Police have announced that they have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of the murder.
The suspect is also believed to be from London.
Sarah Derbyshire, Detective Chief Inspector of Dorset Police released the following statement:
"Following the discovery of the woman’s body we have now launched an investigation into her death. We have specially-trained officers supporting her family at this very difficult time.
Enquiries are now underway to establish how she died. A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course and this should give us more of an indication as to the cause of her death.
We are working closely with the festival organisers and I would appeal to anyone with any information about the incident to contact Dorset Police."
