A 23-year-old man has died following a tragic stabbing at a nightclub in Birmingham, England.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the devastating incident occurred on the dancefloor of The Crane nightclub on Boxing Day (Monday, December 26).

The venue is located on Adderley Street in Digbeth, with police being alerted just before 11:45PM.

West Midlands Police say the 23-year-old victim died 30 minutes later.

No arrests have been made as of this writing and the scene is currently closed off while investigators continue to gather evidence.

Speaking out about the tragic incident, Detective Inspector Michelle Thurgood - who is leading the investigation - has said in a press release: "This was a young man enjoying himself with friends on a Boxing Day night out and our thoughts are with his friends and family today."

Det Insp Thurgood continued: "We know there were hundreds of people in the nightclub at the time. While we've spoken to a number of them already, we still need to hear from anyone who was there and who witnessed or even filmed what happened.

"We believe that the victim was approached by a group of people, and was then stabbed, so we're working hard to identify all of those involved."

The Mail reports that detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the nightclub and are urging anybody with any information to contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat, quoting log 3792 of 26 December.

A 25-year-old woman was found dead in the early hours of Monday morning, in a wooded area surrounding the popular music festival, Bestival. The woman, who hails from London, is believed to have been murdered. Police were notified around 1am this morning after revellers attending the event at Lulworth Castle had reason to be concerned about the welfare of the woman. Sarah Derbyshire, Detective Chief Inspector of Dorset Police released the following statement: "Following the discovery of the woman’s body we have now launched an investigation into her death. We have specially-trained officers supporting her family at this very difficult time.

Enquiries are now underway to establish how she died. A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course and this should give us more of an indication as to the cause of her death. We are working closely with the festival organisers and I would appeal to anyone with any information about the incident to contact Dorset Police." More information to follow.

Every year, I spend so much time between the months of September and May wishing that the weather would be... better. As autumn turns to winter and winter gives rise to spring, you probably see a whole host of wind, rain, and even snow, but all the way through, I'm just complaining, and waiting for summer.

Then, this year, summer came like it's supposed to: blue skies, barbecues abound, and most importantly, no rain. Three weeks in a row is pretty much unprecedented, but here we are, as the World Cup came and went in spectacular fashion, in the best summer in a very long time.

And I absolutely hate it.

I didn't realise it at the time, but those rainy Julys and mild Augusts were my natural habitat; I'm clearly not built for hot climates. All of my friends want to hang out in the summer sun, leaving me with little time for myself; I'm struggling to get to sleep at night, and in the day time, I'm sweating through all of my clothing like a pervert in a sauna.

But in these extremely summery conditions, how is everyone coping with the heatwave? What is there to do to keep the summer haze at bay? What atrocities will the heat force us to commit? For one family, the answer was apparently "defile a grave with barbecue meat".

Confused? That's... understandable, actually.

But allow us to walk you through it.

The venue for this bizarre BBQ is Otley, near Leeds in the north of England. Peter Howard was with his wife having just enjoyed a lovely time at the Otley food and drink festival, when the couple decided to take a scenic detour through a nearby cemetery. Posting on Facebook once he got home, Howard revealed how his walk had been way more eventful than he'd bargained for.

"Imagine the surprise to find 3 adults with about 7 children enjoying a barbeque. The cooking was being done on the raised tomb stone. My wife remonstrated with the men. The "Chef" patronisingly said 'Thank you for you input, I've taken note.' So I took a photograph!"

So not only did they come across a family cooking up a storm atop a tombstone, but the chef had the nerve to get sassy with them when they quite rightly pointed out that they probably shouldn't cook on someone's grave. Either way, things took a weirder turn when the chef realised his photo was being taken.

"Over trots the guy in blue and demands I delete the potographs I have taken of the children he is responsible for. He says it's illegal to take photos of children. I tell him no it's not, and in any case I was taking photo's of him barbequeing on a tomb in sacred ground!"

I wonder: was it somebody they knew? I don't think that would help in this situation, but it would go some way toward explaining the thought process behind trying to make a burger where somebody died. I get that barbecues are difficult to assemble, but if you literally have to mess with somebody's tombstone to get some delicious smoked meats, I think there's got to be a better way.

Now this is the kind of barbecue we should be calling the cops on. Good grief.

A family whose loved one went missing 56 years ago in a pub restroom has finally got answers to the mystery.In January 1967, Alfred Swinscoe, 54, was last seen at the Miners Arms pub in Pinxton, Nottinghamshire, UK.After telling his son to buy a round of drinks at 10:30PM, he stepped outside to use the toilet and was never seen again, per the Express.For years, speculation swirled that Alfred, recently separated from his wife, had abandoned his family.However, his son Gary - who was the last person to see him alive - never believed this theory, holding onto the hope that his father might still return.Gary passed away in 2012 without ever knowing the truth.A shocking discovery in 2022 would finally bring some resolution.While browsing social media, Alfred’s grandson, Russell Lowbridge, stumbled upon a police post about human remains found in a field.To his astonishment, he recognized one of the socks on the body as belonging to his grandfather.“I suddenly remembered as a kid putting on my granddad's sock and pulling them up so the heel came right up to my knee," Russell recalled, per the Mirror."I called the police, and they came to take a DNA swab. That’s when we found out that it really was Alfred. I was shocked and flabbergasted.”The remains, buried six feet deep in a farmer’s field near Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts, were discovered by chance when the farmer dug a ditch.The skeleton, still carrying pre-decimal coins in its pockets, bore signs of a brutal murder, with blunt force trauma to the head and sharp force trauma to the jaw.“They said he fought for his life. There were signs of a broken hand, as if he’d given somebody a good right hook," Russell said.He continued: "And they found trauma to his ribs and his back, as if he'd been grappling with someone and they'd been punching him in the ribs.”Police believe Alfred’s body was left exposed for over a week before being buried, with signs that animals had scavenged parts of the remains.“Whoever killed him went back to make sure he was never found,” Russell added.The discovery marked a major breakthrough in a case that had been cold for more than 50 years.But while the inquest into Alfred's death has been adjourned and the police investigation has slowed, Russell is making a public plea for information before the case is closed for good.Police have identified two potential suspects, one of whom was present at the Miners’ Arms on the night Alfred disappeared.Known for violence, this individual had previously assaulted others, leading investigators to consider his possible involvement in the murder. However, both suspects have since died, preventing authorities from interrogating them.Russell recalled family suspicions about one of the suspects: "My uncle had always suspected him. Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after a man was discovered dead in a “pool of blood” at Burning Man festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.

The grisly scene unfolded on Sunday (August 31) around 9PM, just as the festival’s towering wooden effigy, known as the “Man", was set ablaze in front of thousands of attendees.

According to The New York Post, a festival goer flagged down a Pershing County sheriff’s deputy to report seeing “a male subject lying in a pool of blood".

The man, described by officials as a single white adult male, was “obviously deceased” and pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's body was taken to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office. His identity has not yet been released, per The Independent.

Local deputies, Bureau of Land Management rangers, and Burning Man’s own Black Rock Rangers quickly created a perimeter around the site and interviewed several participants in the immediate area. Authorities confirmed the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

The sheriff’s office warned that while the act appears to be a "singular crime," all participants should always be vigilant of their surroundings and acquaintances.

They also noted the investigation is “complicated,” as the temporary city erected for the annual festival “will be gone by the middle of the week”.

The area surrounding the death will remain gated off as authorities continue their work. “This process is still ongoing, and the portion of the ‘City’ where this occurred will have heavy law enforcement presence until the scene can be released,” the sheriff’s office added.

The festival organizers also released a statement, stressing that they are cooperating fully with law enforcement.

"The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office will be the primary source of further information. If you are in Black Rock City, do not interfere with law enforcement activity,” they wrote.

They added: “The safety and well-being of our community are paramount. Participants have access to free public WiFi at the 3 and 9 o’clock plazas, Playa Info (near Center Camp), Ranger HQ (Esplanade & 6:30), at the Emergency Services Department station at 5:15 & Esplanade, and in Center Camp should they need to communicate with loved ones.”

The festival brings tens of thousands of people together to build a temporary city in the desert. It began last Sunday and is set to end on Monday.

This year’s edition has already been marred by dust storms, heavy rain, and one attendee named Kayla Thompson, who unexpectedly gave birth on-site before being rushed to the hospital.

Per The Independent, a sharp pain woke Thompson, 37, up, and she initially feared she was coming down with a severe illness or even suffering from appendicitis. But as cramps overtook her, it became clear she needed medical attention.

The woman and her husband, Kasey, began shouting for help, and minutes later, their lives changed forever: they were no longer just Burners, but parents.

Thompson, who did not know she was pregnant, welcomed a three-pound nine-ounce baby girl in the RV's bathroom. The couple rushed to a medical tent, where staff informed them that, due to limited space, only the newborn could be airlifted to a hospital.

The baby was flown out, while Thompson and her husband began the long journey to Reno by car. Once they finally arrived, doctors confirmed their daughter was in good health.

"She was safe and sound, and I was so thrilled,” the mother said, the New York Times reported.
