Male viewers have been left "wincing in pain" after watching a gruesome alley scene from MaXXXine.
The newly-released slasher, which features Mia Goth as leading lady Maxine Minx, is the third film in Ti West's X trilogy, which includes the film X and the prequel Pearl: An X-traordinary Origin Story.
The story is set in the 1980s and follows Minx as she chases fame in Hollywood all while she is being targeted by a serial killer on the loose.
The IMDb summary of the film reads: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break, but as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”
Watch the trailer below:One particular scene, which takes place early on in the film, has disturbed cinemagoers as it shows Minx being followed down a dark alleyway by a knife-wielding attacker.
Realizing she's possibly in danger, Minx quickly turns around and pulls out a gun. She then orders the assailant to strip down naked.
She then forces him to lie face down on the ground with his legs spread - before landing a crushing blow on his male genitals.
Many horrified people, especially male viewers, have taken to social media to share their reactions to the blood-filled torture scene.
One shocked user wrote: "The alley scene in MaXXXine made my dad wince out in pain JDHEGEJS," while another equally stunned person shared: "The nuts scene in MaXXXine genuinely terrifies me like I can actually feel it."
A third said: "I literally CROSSED my legs," and a fourth chimed in: "I felt a lil sick for like 5 minutes after and had the cold sweats LMAOOO."
"Hearing all the reactions from the men in the theatre after the MaXXXine alley scene was crazy. Impeccable stuff," someone added.
MaXXXine opened to $6.7 million domestically this weekend, becoming the highest opening out of the entire trilogy as X opened to $4.2 million and Pearl opened to $3.1 million in 2022.
The film, which finished fourth at the box office, has also amassed a solid audience score of 79 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a Tomatometer score of 74 percent.
The film also stars musician Halsey, The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki, and Emily in Paris lead Lily Collins, alongside Leave the World Behind's Kevin Bacon.
