Tipping culture has become one hell of a hot topic online with many claiming that the practice, especially in the United States, has now gotten out of hand.

In fact, there's an entire Reddit thread dedicated to discussing the issue, with many aggravated customers taking to it to question whether they did the right thing when it came to unnecessary tips.

One recent photo that has garnered attention on the social media platform was shared a Redditor who goes by the username @f***_tipping -- which is remarkably appropriate for this type of content.

"An 18% gratuity was 'voluntary' yet automatically added to my bill for 2 guests. Swipe left to see the choice I made," they wrote in the caption.

When users did swipe, they were shown the second half of the bill where the user had the full tip removed - which ignited a full-on debate in the comment section where Redditers went back and forth about whether this was the right decision or not.

"People shouldn't have to 'opt out' of anything. There should be no tip line, extra buttons to click on or push, and no cashier standing there watching if you are tipping or not. If they want to tip, they can do it like it was just a couple of years ago. The customer simply told the cashier to add so much for a tip," wrote one user.

"It said you could subtract it," another added referring to the bill's notice. "So I would definitely subtract it since they had the audacity to put it on there in the first place."

A third also urged the user to "Make sure you watch your bank and see they don't just add it anyway."

And this user chimed in sating: "I avoid eating out because I don't want to deal with it and the experience and food is never worth the cost."

However, not everyone agreed with thats stance.

"I get being upset and asking for it to be removed, but stiffing the server who makes so little to begin with is a d*** move," wrote this user. "It’s not the server's fault, it’s the store policy. Leave a negative review sure, but don’t be a d***."

"Agreed -- OP's an a**hole for stiffing their server," this user also agreed.

And this Redditor was not having any of it writing: "How edgy, stealing services and not paying for them. Bottom feeder behavior. I bet you don’t return shopping carts to the cart corral either."
