Anne Heche was allegedly driving under the influence before her fiery crash on August 5, LAPD sources have informed TMZ.

The actress, who once dated Ellen Degeneres, was involved in a high-speed collision last week that left her in a critical condition.

TMZ reports that Heche was not driving under the influence of alcohol. However, the outlet states that LAPD sources claim that the actor did have cocaine in her system before smashing into an LA residence, igniting a significant blaze.

This claim has also been reported by the LA Times, which reports that a "law enforcement source told The Times that the initial blood test also showed that Heche had cocaine in her system after the crash".

According to CNN, Heche sustained an anoxic brain injury that has left her in a coma. An anoxic brain injury is a severe condition in which oxygen supply to the brain is completely interrupted and can cause irreparable damage.

Heche's friends and family released a statement, shared by CNN, which revealed the Emmy-winner "is not expected to survive," and that "it has long been her choice to donate her organs and she is being kept on life support to determine if any are viable."

A representative for the actress elaborated on the statement, revealing via People that Heche "has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention [...] she is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident."

VT previously reported that support from celebrities has come flooding in for the Psycho actress. Many social media users have also expressed their sadness at the tragic turn of events for Anne Heche, who has two young sons.

One Twitter user commented: "Whatever you think of her, the Anne Heche story is so sad. The fact that she’s leaving behind 2 young children is heartbreaking. Addiction doesn’t care who you are."

"Anne Heche lost her brother in a car crash when she was just 13. It happened just a few months after her father, who sexually abused her, died due to complications from HIV. What a horrific way to leave this earth. My heart breaks for her two sons," another tweeted.

Heche has previously been vocal about her childhood sexual abuse, which resulted in an unhealthy relationship with drugs and alcohol. Tragedy seems to have followed the actress, who also opened up about her mental health struggles after the deaths of three of her siblings, per Marca.

Our thoughts go out to Anne Heche, her family, and her friends during this tragic time.
