Kanye West and his 'wife' Bianca Censori are reportedly the subject of an Italian police investigation following their rather revealing escapades while vacationing in Venice, Italy.

The celebrity couple stirred controversy last week when they were captured in what can only be described as 'compromising positions' during a romantic boat trip in Venice's iconic canals.

In a series of viral images, the 46-year-old American rapper was seen exposing his bare buttocks, while 28-year-old Australian Bianca Censori was photographed kneeling in front of him.

Other snaps captured the couple in intimate poses aboard a river taxi, sparking both curiosity from fans and outrage from critics.

MailOnline exclusively reports that Venice police have successfully identified the boat driver, who is expected to be questioned in the coming days about the spectacle he may have witnessed. Authorities are also requesting photographers to hand over the global viral images.

A Venice police source stated: "There are standards of public decorum that have to be followed by tourists and locals alike and any breaches are severely punished. The images of West with his trousers down while in a taxi as he and his partner crossed the lagoon were seen all over the globe."

The police source added: "The offense being investigated is acts contrary to public decency which is punishable by an administrative sanction."

If local prosecutors decide to press charges, the couple will be notified, "most probably through the relevant Embassies."

Venetian authorities are notably upset, with Elisabetta Pesce, councilor for public security in Venice, telling MailOnline, "Without any shadow of doubt what we saw from the couple was a lack of respect for Venice, which is the most enchanting city in the world." Officials stress that such acts tarnish Venice's reputation as one of the world's most beautiful cities and vow to discuss the issue in upcoming security meetings.

Yesterday, it was reported that the boat company in question had banned the couple from ever using their services again,

Speaking to the Daily Mail Australia, the company responded to the controversy and declared that the famous couple are "no longer welcome" aboard their boats.

In its statement, Venezia Turismo Motoscafi condemned the pair's risqué activity, while confirming both the company and the boat driver were "completely unaware" of what transpired on the vessel, explaining: "On board, the driver had to keep a lookout for traffic and did not see these obscenities."

"If this had happened, he would have immediately disembarked and reported the transgressors to those in authority," the company continued. They also called out "a third person on board the taxi" who was accompanying the duo and "obstructed the captain’s view" to the back of the boat.

Furthermore, the water taxi organization went on to criticize the couple's explicit public display, stating: "We completely dissociate ourselves from such acts and behavior," and adding: "Mr. West and his wife will certainly no longer be welcome on board our company's boats."
