Kate Micucci has shared heartwarming news with her fans: she is officially cancer-free!

The beloved Big Bang Theory star revealed her lung cancer diagnosis just a week ago in a TikTok video recorded from the hospital.

In her initial video, Micucci introduced it as a "Sick Tok," acknowledging her hospital stay due to lung cancer surgery.

She spoke optimistically about the situation, saying: "They caught it really early. It's really weird because I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, so, you know, it was a surprise. But also, I guess, also, it happens, and so the greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out, I'm all good."

Lung cancer remains a significant health concern in the United States, responsible for approximately one in five cancer-related deaths, per Cancer.org. While smoking is the primary cause of lung cancer, Micucci's case highlights that it can affect individuals who have never smoked. Factors such as exposure to radon, secondhand smoke, and air pollution can contribute to the development of lung cancer in non-smokers.

Early detection is crucial for favorable outcomes in lung cancer cases. When diagnosed at an early stage, there is a 70 percent survival rate over five years. However, once the cancer spreads to other parts of the body, long-term survival drops to as low as five percent.

In an update posted on Saturday, the 43-year-old actress and comedian, best known for her role as Lucy on the popular CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, expressed her gratitude for the support she had received from fans and well-wishers during her health journey.

Micucci - who fans may also remember from Scrubs - shared the wonderful news that she is now cancer-free after undergoing successful surgery last week. She expressed her appreciation for the medical professionals who cared for her and credited early detection as a critical factor in her positive outcome.

"I have great news, which is that I am cancer-free," Micucci joyfully announced. "The surgery last week went great. All the reports came back that it worked, I don't need to do any other treatment.

"So, a big thank you to all my doctors and nurses and everyone that took just really great care of me. And thanks for figuring it out early because I am very, very lucky, and I know that."
